I was having battery issues with my nexus 6p so i needed a phone now and i got a heck of a deal on a pixel xl off of the play store. I've heard lots of stories about people having bluetooth connection issues with the pixel xl phones. I'm hoping that either that this issue isn't widespread where if you have a pixel xl phone then you will be affected or its a hardware issue that will NEVER be fixed with a software patch from google. I do realize the pixel xl 2 is just about to be announced but i couldn't wait. I don't know if this matters but i just ordered it off the play store today so i don't know if google has resolved the issue with later builds. I've very concerned with this issue because i use bluetooth all the time. Its one of my main use cases for the phone. I'm hoping someone has some good news for me

Personally I have never had any problems with Bluetooth. I use it every day and I am yet to encounter the slightest issue.

Thanks Carl that is very good to know. Maybe it was early production runs of the phone that had the issue and they were able to patch it in later runs. Its good ti know its just not a issue everyone is having. I really rely on bluetooth daily so i couldn't deal with crappy bluetooth. Here is the video that really got me concerned:

This video about 9 months ago so a lot can happen in that timeframe. As you can tell he was able to get bluetooth to cut out by just putting his hand over the glass part on the back. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I have issues with the BT in my car. If I dont have my BT on my phone on before I turn the car on, sometimes it wont connect the media or the phone side of it like phone calls and phone book. Its always been like that and idk why. I got used to it but the Pixels BT is known for wacky BT.

Is your car a Ford with Sync?

I was just waiting (and forgetting....) to post about my BT issues and now I see this comment.

I have my BT "controlled" by Tasker.

When I connect to my home WiFi, BT is turned off.
When I disconnect from my home WiFi, BT turns on (because I've left the house).
When I connect to my work WiFi, BT is turned off.
When I disconnect from my work WiFi, BT turns on (because I've left work).

My car is a Ford Flex. With Sync. I find that after a couple of cycles of this, my phone stops connecting. When I go into my BT settings, I see that SYNC is no longer there.

Is this the same issue you have, @matty032 or something that you're aware of?

Ever since I got my Pixel XL (Jan), and also with my previous LG G5, I had Bluetooth issues connecting to my car (I believe the Nougat (7) was the culprit. Basically my phone would connect to my Toyota sometimes, but not every time. When it didn't connect, I would toggle it off/on, and then it would connect. Annoying, but I've been dealing with it for a long time now. That being said, listening to music via Bluetooth headphones worked just fine.

Since the Oreo update, my Pixel has connected to my Toyota EVERY time I get in. Great right? Well I just went to the gym last night for the first time since the update, and now I have the music skipping issue. WTF? Is there any known fix for this? I have not done a factory reset as of yet, and was hoping to avoid it. But if it will fix the problem, I'll give it a try.

Update: I tried music via Bluetooth in my truck, and it worked fine. I deleted the headphones from my Pixel, and re-paired, and initial test is good.

I have a pixel XL.

When I jump in my Cadillac, my phone connects everytime, all the time.

When I jump in the wife's KIA, it only connects about 50% of the time.

Makes me think it is an issue on the car side not the phone side.

It has been the same with V7 and V8.

I never touch WiFi settings or Bluetooth those are always on.

When it does not connect on the KIA, I have to go into the connections in the KIA settings and reconnect. Then it works fine.

I had horrid BT issues with my 6P. Two of them. 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0 so not a software issue. Just got a Pixel replacement from Google. in Same car 6p would disconnect, skip, stutter etc. jut took a 50 minuet drive with Pixel and 8.0 and it was rock solid. So first test was a win. next will be if the phone can be on my body and not cut out my BT head set like the 6p did.

So test 2 passed. had my Plantronics BT stereo HP's on with Pixel in pants pocket doing yard work. worked fine. never cut out. If it were my 6p I would have all kinds of cut out skip issues.
