Torn between the 2. I know each has their advantages and disadvantages and that is not what I'm looking for in this post.
I'm looking for feedback from folks who have or had both. Please share you thoughts if you are one that does/did.

Thank you!

I've had both. Now I had the pixel xl and returned it because I had invested into the whole Samsung experience with a wireless charger and a SD card. Now I miss how fluid the pixel was so I'm returning my edge and waiting for my new pixel to come in lol.

Haha I'm on the same boat. Have s7 edge, went to the pixel xl, went back to the s7 edge and now I want to go try the regular pixel. The battery life on my s7e has been so bad it gets worse with every update and I'm sick of the curved display.

You two are not helping at all with this madness LOL

Well do you need the wireless charging, SD card, or waterproofing... Or even Samsung pay??

I can't stand the lag I get occasionally on the S7E which you don't ever get on the pixel. To me it's just easier to use. The s7 has so many bells and whistles that majority of people don't even use. I also don't find the battery to be good at all.

I had a S7E. Gave it to my wife when I got the Note 7 (RIP..I miss you). I just got my Pixel XL a few days ago and I really love it. The cameras on both devices are top notch but I lean towards liking the Pixel more. Battery on the Pixel XL is slightly less than the S7e but better than the S7 so far in my experience (neither come close to my iPhone 7 Plus here). The screen on both is great but I think I slightly prefer the screen of the S7e/S7 but it really is splitting hairs. The biggest area of separation for me is the software. The Pixel XL is fast and I've yet to have it stutter while doing anything. Samsung has definitely improved Touchwiz but I much prefer the Pixel software. My S7 frequently experiences bouts of lag and gets warm to the touch quite a bit. Both great devices and you can't go wrong with either, but for me, if I had to keep only one, it would be the Pixel XL.

Well said. I had the pixel XL (just ordered the regular pixel) and found the battery to be MUCH better than the S7E. I do not get good battery life with my s7e, I did when I first got it and it has gone downhill every security update

Had an s7 edge and just got a regular pixel and this phone has better battery life then my edge did. That's no joke.. I'm digging the pixel.

I have an S7 (non edge) and the Pixel was the obvious decision IMHO. Also no TouchWiz and quick updates is an enormous plus. The Pixel unquestionably has a better camera and video stabilization, has better battery life, and it's faster.

Good to know, I can't wait to get mine. The size is so perfect. Just shows how crappy a 3600mah battery can be in a Samsung device. The pixel has a 2770mah battery... Yes the 1080p screen helps with battery but still, Sammy should be embarrassed!

I had the edge (and most of every other flagship released this year, LOL).

I love the Edge Panels but I love the Pixel's Pull Down Notification (using the Finger Print Scanner) even more!!

Pixel.

Returned my pixel xl and am back to using my s7 edge. I will not be going back to the pixel either. I'm not sure what all the fuss is about, the pixel kind of sucked for the short time I had it. It's fast and fluid and runs stock android, but the same can be said about other, cheaper devices. I'm afraid the camera is the only thing that puts the pixel above the likes of the oneplus 3t. So this was my personal experience:

The pixel had very unstable wifi speeds, which I had to research and dig into multiple threads to discover that it was a very common issue that was addressed in an update...and as always some people, including myself, continued to have issues. Funny how everyone says the weird glass window is for better reception, but my reception was horrible lol. Then I found out just how bad the speaker is. It's about the same volume as the gs7 edge. And as hollow and flat. WITHOUT a water resistant coating. Plainly, it sucks bad. But not only is the volume low, when on speaker calls it crackled at high volume.

Then it tuned out the volume rocker (which should have been separate buttons) is mounted so low that my dash mount squeezed them. I had to adjust it so it was only holding the lower third of the phone, below the buttons, and it was not stable. Bad button placement in my opinion.

Other than that the edge display looks better, gets brighter, battery life is better for me on the edge, and oh yeah can't forget the top placement of the headphone jack is just wrong in my opinion. Nothing good can come from it. So yeah I actually can't think of anything the pixel did better than my edge, just things it does worse. But you know the shiny new google phones are always so popular.

I have both. The S7 Edge has more features such as water resistance and wireless charging, micro SD card, Samsung pay etc. I am also one of the people that likes the features of touchwiz. That said, I have also always kept a nexus and got the pixel xl. It is not as refined as the S7Edge, but it is optimized nicely and very fluid, more so than the Samsung. Remember the S8 is almost out so you can get a S7 Edge for a great price. I got mine new for under $500. If price is not a concern, The pixel is a great device.

If I could only have one I would go with the S7 Edge because of the features it has over the Pixel Xl some of which is listed above. There is nothing as far as features that nougat has that the Edge does not have on marshmallow. I think the 2nd generation Pixels will be the flagship that google is capable of, they are just so slow to evolve.

It's got a big battery. Wonder why it sucks?

I am in the same boat, I had two Note 7's before Samsung/Verizon officially pulled the plug. I'm using a 7Edge now but my Pixel XL will be shipping on 12/2 and the Edge goes back the day after the Pixel arrives.

Some pros/cons:

The Edge charges wirelessly. The Pixel XL doesn't.

The Edge is waterproof. The Pixel XL is not.

The Edge has a swanky curved display. The Pixel XL does not.

The Edge gets nice and warm and melts the adhesive on my Zagg screen protector. The Pixel XL (hopefully) does not.

The Pixel XL uses a USB C charger. The Edge does not.

Battery wise, they're about even -- some people say one is better, others say the other is better. Bottom line is to be sensible and careful when installing and configuring the use of apps.

Design-wise, on a purely subjective note, I think the Pixel is completely boring and unexciting. And that's fine by me. I'm not interested in using a phone designed by Pininfarina or the house of Ferrari. I want a phone that works well, fast and efficiently, and that won't inspire me to throw it against a wall or out a window. The Pixel is pretty close to that ideal.

There are some significant issues. I know the Pixel is pricey -- my 128GB was more than it should have been and I am sure there are plenty of people who have the same opinion. I think the bottom line here is that if the Pixel seems like a good move it more than likely is. I don't think it's perfect and I doubt many people out there do, but it seems like a sensible option now that the Note 7 and the Edge are not really viable options.

I actually think the xl screen is brighter than the 7e contrary the above post at least for the several I've seen.

After seeing all the reviews I went ahead and jumped on the Pixel from my S7 edge.

Honestly, I don't see what's all the fuss is about. Granted I was using Nova launcher on my S7 edge and it was an exynos version, they both worked practically the same. Yes, the Pixel is a bit more smoother and consistent but I don't really notice it unless I'm really looking for it.

I will be returning the Pixel and keeping my Edge.

The most important thing for me is the price to quality ratio. S7 edge seems to me like a COMPLETE device. I appreciate companies taking time and energy out to design their products inside out. Makes me feel like I've paid the right amount to the right people. The S7 edge is just COMPLETE.

In addition, always on display is something I'm hooked to. Along with the sexy curved edges and of course, water resistance is a big big plus.

Pixel is too boring and Under-designed. It's well optimised of course but I know but it feels extremely out dated when comparing to the Edge.

Next year is the year of bezel free screens and curved edges and what not, I think the Pixel will get out-phoned just around February or March. Phones with much better designs and features will be out. By then, 'optimisation' will be an outdated argument. S7 edge will still be relevant with good performance and amazing hardware.

So for me, S7 edge is a complete phone while the Pixel just seems like an experiment from Google checking how much people are willing to pay for Software alone.

And the biggest personal gripe I have is having to feel the following feeling;

When I was in the shop looking at Pixel and the iPhone 7 side by side, I saw much better value for money with the iphone.

This has never happened before. And I hated how this was true. In the past iOS devices meant compromises, now it was the best from Google.

Google has changed the iOS vs Android game. They made the iphone look better.

I don't like it. I don't like it at all.

Yeah some people have connection issues and others don't. It definitely is odd. I get great LTE (same as I did with other phones like the S7 edge) and wifi. Below is a wifi test at home.

I hope Google can get to the bottom of it.
