Pixel XL or unlocked s8 or one plus 5?

I have the regular Pixel and just picked up the S8+ yesterday. I thoroughly enjoy the vanilla android experience but the lack of features associated with the Pixel was not evident until I got the S8+. I love both devices as each appeals to a different audience. Right now I have no intentions of getting rid of the S8+ but will possibly sale the Pixel.

Pixel is the only recent Android flagship device where software and security are at the forefront and where privacy and security are taken seriously. I strongly prefer the metal body over the glass body. Camera is marginally better on the Pixel XL than the S8, though each is strong at their own things.

So to my assessment the Pixel XL wins over the S8 on build materials, software, security, commitment to updates, camera, charging technology, design, lack of bloatware and OEM support.

The S8+ then wins on display accuracy and on newer SoC.

They're tied for all intents and purposes for my usage on water resistance, audio, battery capacity (<1.5% difference), build quality and network support.

I totally agree and I apologize if I came off as condescending in my post. I think the Pixel is the iPhone of Android in terms of optimization, software updates, etc.

At this point though, for me personally, the S8+ is better suited for my needs and wants. I may keep the Pixel as a back up device. 😁

Yep the vast majority of the forums would agree with you.

It is really a personal choice. Try em all and go with what fits your needs and wants best. You can't go wrong with any one of them. I have had them all. Each one has both Pros & Cons. You may want to see what the new devices like Note 8, LG V30, Pixel 2 XL and iPhone are all about as they are going to be announced in the next month or 2.

I would try to think of the things that you need the most out of a device. Then, test each device for a week and see which one meets your criteria.

The S8 is a better device. Samsung Camera, Display and built quality is a few steps up when compared to the OnePlus 5. Pixel XL got the Google advantage but it is showing its age. You've got the three. Go with which you like the most.
