I doubt the Pixel XL will slightly faster than Samsung S7. Their launcher is light and not so much customization like Samsung
I not sure whether it will faster than any smartphone in the market or not. But definitely will be one of the fastest.
However, with Google minimal approach on the Pixel UI, the UI will be smoother than other Android distro. Plus with the latest Snapdragon 821, it will help to increase the performance of the Pixel too.

From use today the UI is smooth. Almost too smooth oddly. I use a S7 Edge as my daily but it doesn't feel as smooth as the Pixel or the Pixel XL felt today. Plus taking a picture is stupid fast.
The processor is nearly identical to the 820 , just more efficient and a bit faster. What makes Pixel devices super fast is the software and the it's near perfect optimization with the hardware. These phone will surely be the fastest Androids in the market.
Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe also has SD 821, you should also give it a try. I don't like the design of the Pixel, its kinda ugly.
Hopefully early results are wrong then, they all show Pixel getting crushed by S7k and iPhone. I still think it will be smoother though.

I think its also got to do with the new Android 7.1 OS. But yes, the 821 definitely flies. Snapdragon are making up for the horrendous 810 and 808 processors. Just imagine the Note 7 with a 810 processor. ^_^ what a nightmare lol

The Z3 is nice, but I still went with the Pixel XL for all the reasons you can read on this forum.
Any yes, I agree that the aesthetics of the Pixel is a drawback, but I'll try to get past that.

I think that's what I'm most excited for... The great camera experience.
Hopefully the battery life is excellent. I'm leaning towards the Pixel, but if the battery life on the Pixel is lacking, then I'll have to consider the XL.
How is the s7 and iPhone crushing the Pixel.? I base my results on the everyday experience around me and at work. I see no real mind blowing speed that say or show other phones blowing out the next phone. Except when folks do benchmark test and we all know some if not many OEM cheats with the testing.

Eh the 821 is just an overclocked 820. The A10 chip in iphone 7 still smokes it according to benchmarks. Yes it will be fast, but the 821 is nothing special.
