Pixel XL - What happens to my photos on google photos when I upgrade to new device?

So, I've had my Pixel for a couple years and I'm looking to upgrade to the OnePlus 6T at Christmas. But, I'm curious as to what will happen to my backed up photos and videos on Google photos, as the whole 'unlimited photo storage' thing is exclusive to pixels as far as I know.

They'll still be there, you just lose the ability to upload new pictures in full quality without counting against your quota from the newer phone, that's all.
