Rented a movie on my S3 and it just will not go and what I mean is 1) the app (least i think its the app, it only happens when its open) will eat up all of my ram and leave about 200MB or so making the phone flip 2)the movie will stop 10 secs in and does some weird noise until I force close it and 3) it see that I started the movie and says I have 4 hours left. Saw somewhere that its because i'm rooted, is that the case with movies and tv shows with rooted android devices?

experienced the lag/no play problem too with large movie files and native video player. i downloaded another player from Play Store (Joe's VLC) and movie worked fine.

never had the noise problem, and i suspect the time problem is due to the movie not being properly cached into your video player.

/non-rooted, sprint 4.1.2

cheers/dom

My S3 also spazzes with Google Play movies in the exact same way. I don't know why. I'm rooted too.

If you are rooted and having problems playing movies from streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon, Google Play etc, they are checking if you are rooted and usually won't play nice. An app called OTA Rootkeeper will allow you to temporarily unroot to stream movies.

Everything but Play Movies works. Which isn't a big deal most of the time as I can use my Nexus 7, which is also rooted (strange I know)
