Play Services issue

I've tried downloading the newest play services APK. I have a Nexus 6p running 7.1.2. When I download it it shows under apps in settings on the phone as the version I downloaded but in the play store it still shows the older version (10.2.98). I have even tried signing up for the beta on Google play but still nothing. I want the newest version with Assistant. Thanks for your help

Is not guaranteed, that you will get Assistant when you install beta version, it is server side switch.
Which version did you installed? You should use 440 from beta ones....

Yeah I installed the 10.5.37 440... beta And nothing happened. The weird thing is my version in apps under settings says the right version but when I go to the play store it still shows the old version

As I said, you will not get Assistant right after the update...
I also get 10.2.98, then installed 10.5 from the apkmirror

You won't get Assistant until Google approves it for your device. Beta, released version, doesn't matter... You need to be up to date AND Google has to whitelist your device.

There is no way to speed things along. You just have to wait.
