As the title says, this is kind of an issue. So, basically what happened was my mate has the same phone , same provider and his play store is on the same version as mine showing "up-to-date" The thing is, his user interface and store logo is a hell of a lot changed and updated than mine
and we're both on 4.9.13 and running the same system version. So what I'm a asking is there any reason why his is displaying the newest UI and mines is not?

Have you tried restarting your phone as possibly some cache needs refreshing to have the new updates visible. Also my build version is 5.0.31 so there might be another update to look out for.

Yea I restarted but it's telling me when I go to update it that it's already up-to-date.

I have the same version and it looks the same as it always has. Maybe try clearing your cache partition and if that doesn't work, uninstall the updates and stop and restart the app maybe restart the phone and re-install the updates.

When it comes to apps like the play store, gmail, and other google core apps, the updates roll out over time. So its not uncommon for 2 identical phones under the same roof to get updates days apart.
I have a Note 3, Nexus 5 and HTC One M8. The M8 is still waiting for the play store update, while my Note 3 and Nexus 5 both have the updated version of the play store. It will happen eventually.
