Like the title says. Here's a screenshot. P8P unlocked on Verizon. I keep pressing check for update and keep getting this screen.

Anyone else stuck also? How do I get the newest version if it says I'm up to date?

I am on the latest Android version, just got it today.

I think a lot of us are stuck on the November play system update. They started to update this a while ago but it was bricking some of the phones. I think that's why Google put a stop on it for now

Ahh, OK. I usually keep mine updated and finally just decided to check for an update today but wasn't aware of any issues they were having.

I'm definitely fine with the old version if a new one might brick my phone.

Some steps to try
1. Reboot your device check again
2. Any VPN. Used try turning off and rebooting check again
3. Check your time/date is on automatic
4. Go to settings app > click on Google play service clear Data and force stop do same for Google play store , then try again
5. Try both WiFi and mobile data make sure one or the other is the problem
6. Try deleting your Google account and add back again under account and back up1329460236.jpg

Well, this is interesting. I was going through your steps and noticed the version here.

Is that the latest version (24.02.13) and for some reason elsewhere on my phone (through search for Play system updates), it doesn't know the actual app version?

So, I wonder if Play system and Play services aren't really the same thing. I'll do more investigating tomorrow since it's way past my bedtime.

Thanks for the suggestions so far!

My Pixel 7 Pro is still on the November Google Play system update, while my Pixel Tablet recently updated to January. I'm pretty sure it's due to the bug in the January update that was causing problems with more recent Pixel phones (but I guess not the tablet?).

Well, I've done everything except clear all data for Google Play Services because it looks like I'll have a bunch of work to do after nuking it and I'm not willing to do all that when it might not even make a difference anyway. I'm still on Nov. 1, 2023 Play Services until Google gets it figured out, since I guess I'm not the only one on that version.

Thanks again!

You probably wouldn't want the January Google Play system update for your Pixel 8 Pro anyway, since it's buggy. This is why I never try to sideload updates -- I just wait until they're pushed to my device conventionally. There have been more than one occasion in the past where a buggy update was paused or completely pulled because of a significant bug discovered after the rollout began. If I had rushed to sideload the update, I would've been stuck with the bug, and the subsequent hassle of trying to roll back to the previous version.

I just thought it was weird I never even got the December update for it.

I don't sideload any system updates and don't plan to start.
