Play vs Native store for apps

So I have Samsung devices and in looking for a mail client, I noticed that Samsung has the same mail app on its own Galaxy store and on the Google play store. Is it better to get the app from one or the other? I mentioned Samsung, but I know other brands have their own app stores and probably face this same dilemma.

Only if one or the other server is overloaded. Otherwise it's the same app, and takes about the same time to download.

I know for the most part apps are identical but on the Galaxy store some apps specifically say "Made for Samsung". I'm wondering if certain apps are tweaked for Samsung products.

I would doubt that the apps are "tweaked" for Samsung phones. More likely that they are tested only on Samsung phones and probably limited to Samsung phones on the Google Play Store.
