Played with the Incredible Tonight

is that a track ball on it? i HATE trackballs with a passion.

and what's wrong with sense ui? i have a droid. sense ui seems fun and harmless so i don't get why some people hate it. it's not like it's a trackball or anything lol. >_<

Do you have any experience with the Nexus One? I'd like to know how these features compare:

1. Speaker. I've heard the N1 has a lousy, tinny external speaker.

2. Display. Is it OLED or AMOLED? How does it compare to N1?

3. Camera. Better quality photos or just higher megapixel?

4. Build Quality. Are the materials of the same quality as N1?

I have never really played with the Nexus One so I have no baseline to compare it to unfortunately. A friend of mine has one for T Mobile has one and says he's switching to the Incredible as soon as it drops...he didn't specify why though.

As far as the camera goes, I can tell you that it takes nice indoor shots in dim light, but that's as far as I can go with it. Anyone that takes pics knows that megapixel count isn't a good barometer of how well a camera functions...glad you see it the same way!

The build quality from what I could tell was very good. Phone felt solid yet light...and definitely untoy-like (not sure if that's a word)

No trackball, Opitcal Trackpad...much different response. No moving parts means nothing to break/wearout/replace. The trackpad was nice, very responsive and efficient. You can even press it in for a "Enter" response.

Do you have the option to disable Sense like on the Desire? And does anyone know if the HTC widgets are compatible with the stock 2.1 UI?

HTC widgets won't work without the sense launcher running (so it won't work in stock)

the disabling of sense has been discussed ad nauseum, short answer: sort of.

search for the long one, it isn't hard to find. :)

does the incredible have the google navi? the same one that is on the droid?

Fantastic comments. Looks like this is the upgrade I have been waiting for (Currently using a Treo 700p, so I am due).

Is there an easy way to sync with Outlook on my PC? I have seen some comments that make me think this may be a problem.

The built in HTC sync software for PC allows this. Its stored on the phone as an .exe and you run it on the pc. Its currently available for the HTC Hero and Droid Eris.

my eyes! too much color!

i'd say for 90% of droid users, there really is no huge gains made (for daily use) in the incredible or N1. so most of them would be happy staying with what they have.

of course they both run at the same speed if you overclock the droid to 1GHz, but 1GHz A8 does not equal 1GHz snapdragon.

just like 550MHz arm11 does not equal 550MHz A8.

if you would like to prove me wrong, show me some objective test that proves your claim.

I felt the Incredible side by side with my Droid and my friend's Nexus One just a few minutes ago. To be honest, it felt rather "cheap" compared to the other two devices. It ran at the same speed as my Droid at 1GHz. The Sense UI was okay but I wasn't crazy about.

I disagree with the build quality as the phone felt solid in my hands, and I am comparing that to my Droid. Nothing in my opinion feels as solid as the Droid but I definitely wouldn't call the Incredible cheap.

Will wait another few months until the Verizon iPhone drops or another high end Android device releases. First time Android users will probably like the Incredible a lot. If you have a Droid, I'd say wait until the Verizon iPhone or a better Android phone.

On a sad note for a lot of people, my guy that showed me the Incredible had some insight for the rumored VZW iPhone. When asked if the rumors were true, he said that if Apple wants to build a phone that would work on the Verizon network they'd be more than happy to talk about it.

Obviously this doesn't say it's true or false, but it does help shed some light on the prospect of the phone dropping anytime this year IMHO.

all these contradicting opinions on the Incredible. Some people say its gonna be the bomb digity, some people say meh.

im so torn to trade my droid for the incredible!

I hear A8 is better and then I hear Snapdragon is better. When I compared them side by side, I couldn't tell the difference. Then again, the Incredible was running Sense UI on top of vanilla Android so who knows? Might go back tomorrow and do another test.

i've never heard anyone say that the A8 was actually better than the snapdragon, but i've heard a lot of people argue that they are very similar.

and i am pretty sure under general use, that they will feel similar in performance. so if you went back and played with both devices, i think your results will feel the same every time.

it's not until we get some applications that are more demanding that we will see what snapdragon can do.

i have a feeling that most people who aren't very impressed with the incredible already have a very capable phone (droid)

i'd advise to wait until you can try it out in stores and see if its more what you want in a phone than the droid has.

like for me, not having a keyboard that i never used (and thus saving the thickness and weight) and a ton of internal memory is better to me than a keyboard and a slightly higher resolution screen.

Do you wan't a physical keyboard and more pixels?

If you answer yes to those, stick with the Droid!

But c'mon, you're C3PO! You can't ditch a fellow Droid!

the fact that the incredible lacks a physical keyboard doesnt bother me. And something about the droids slider always opening while im walking when its in my pocket is annoying.

Because when that happens the screen lights up, thus wasting battery. And with these phones you gotta save as much juice as you can to last the whole day with constant use. I like my Droid, but the past 2 days it has been quiet buggy on me. One time it just kept scrolling the screen up and down up and down for like a minute....without me even touching it. jabber-walkies.

And also i have a little vendetta id like to settle with my verizon salesperson. When i went in to ditch my dying blackberry on April 3rd of this month, (this was before i discovered androidcentral.com) i asked him if there was any new devices coming out soon, that i should hold off for. (honestly i was probing for an iphone rumor) he said "No more android devices will be coming out for verizon for quite a while." I took his word for it and bought my droid.

sure enough LESS than 30 days later, HTC Droid Incredible with baller specs to say the least. I even emailed him after i discovered the Incredible, and he said, "Ive played with the incredible, its not better than the Droid." i never responded, cuz obviously he doesnt understand the point i was trying to make. Im the customer, your supposed to satisfy the customer. im not satisfied with the droid. its a great phone. but i was purposely deceived. so i want retribution!

and since i am programed with over 6 million forms of communication i would like to take advantage of the advanced speech to text the HTC offers.

This might sound like a dumb question, but will PDANET work as effectively on the Incredible as it currenty does on my Moto DROID? Also, does anyone have insight if this phone is going to be available through my local Costco kiosk?
