Played with the Incredible Tonight

yea pdanet is awesome. Ive read a lot of people root their phones to take advantage of tethering...but pdanet can be used stock.

yea, the only downside is you have to install the client on the computer as well.

for windows computers, the HTC sync application seems to support tethering as well.

Thats not really a bit deal. when i had my blackberry i had to have vzaccess manager installed on my computer to use it as a tether.

So using this, do you still get billed the $20-$30 (or whatever it is) from Verizon for tethering?

BTW, That's just ridiculous to me. You're already paying $30 for a data plan. And they just dropped the wifi hotspot charges for Pre's. Why the heck would they still charge for tethering?!?!?

pdanet does not require you pay anything additional to verizon for tethering (although verizon doesn't see it that way) as you use your phones existing 29.99 data plan for internet to your laptop/pc. Just be aware of your bandwith as I understand if you go over 5 gig your account "could" be flagged for excessive data use. Just download net monitor from android market to watch your bandwith usage.

the fact that the incredible lacks a physical keyboard doesnt bother me. And something about the droids slider always opening while im walking when its in my pocket is annoying.

Because when that happens the screen lights up, thus wasting battery. And with these phones you gotta save as much juice as you can to last the whole day with constant use. I like my Droid, but the past 2 days it has been quiet buggy on me. One time it just kept scrolling the screen up and down up and down for like a minute....without me even touching it. jabber-walkies.

And also i have a little vendetta id like to settle with my verizon salesperson. When i went in to ditch my dying blackberry on April 3rd of this month, (this was before i discovered androidcentral.com) i asked him if there was any new devices coming out soon, that i should hold off for. (honestly i was probing for an iphone rumor) he said "No more android devices will be coming out for verizon for quite a while." I took his word for it and bought my droid.

sure enough LESS than 30 days later, HTC Droid Incredible with baller specs to say the least. I even emailed him after i discovered the Incredible, and he said, "Ive played with the incredible, its not better than the Droid." i never responded, cuz obviously he doesnt understand the point i was trying to make. Im the customer, your supposed to satisfy the customer. im not satisfied with the droid. its a great phone. but i was purposely deceived. so i want retribution!

and since i am programed with over 6 million forms of communication i would like to take advantage of the advanced speech to text the HTC offers.

The latest Droid's have since fixed the lose keyboard issue. So i'd try a new one and see.

Also the Droid has text to speech. And speech to text. And text to text, and speech to speech.
.....................AND CANDY!

Honestly both are great devices and whatever one makes you happy is the one to go with. But I don't feel like dropping out of contract prices for a new phone just 'cause its new

And everyone that works for Verizon or answers their phones are either stupid, or purposely will not tell you things. You will NEVER EVER get a straight answer out of them.

I can't tell you how many reps said "Whats the Droid?" after it hit, and a day before it hit. Or "2.1? Thats already out for the Droid" (saying that back in Jan)

my original droid (launch day) had a loose slider, the one it was replaced with a few months later was much tighter, so there seems to have been a revision in the hardware at some point since the release

my droid is only 2 weeks old. unless its been sitting on the shelf for a while, then idk about the loose slider. Its not exactly loose, but something about the way it sits in my pocket and my body motion while walking makes it slide open. my friend used to have the original LG chocolate slider, and it got effed up fast cuz it kept coming undone in his pocket. I told myself i would try out the slider action for a while since i have never had one. all my phones have been open screen ones. except my old flip phones i used to have with nextel.

if/when i upgrade to the incredible, it will be a perfect swap because my droid will still be within its 30 day "trial" period. all i will have to do is pay a $35 dollar restocking fee.

But i am alreadly planning out next thursday. get up at 8. head to my local verizon store to be there at 9 when they open. play with in incredible. if i like it, ill make the swap. if not. ill keep the droid, since there really isnt any other verizon phone worth swapping to.

OHHHH! lol

I thought you had it since release so I was a bit irked when I read that you might be jumping ship.

Yeah, i gotta say, stick with the device the best suits you! And heck, if the incredible isn't what its cracked up to be, you can always come back to the dark side ;)

yea but i can only swap phones once. so if i swap for the incredible, i will be staying with it until my next upgrade date...in 2012......if we make it that long.

The new Droid does NOT fix the slider issue. When the Incredible was not mentioned at the CTIA, I decided to say "F it", and get the Droid. I had it for 20 days before returning it (I bought it on March 27th). My main gripe was that it constantly slid open in my pocket.

It was infuriating. Even if the Incredible hadn't been announced, I probably would have returned my Droid regardless.

Phone swap? What are you talking about? There is an option outside of upgrading your phone for swapping out phones? My girlfriend my want to do this with the Incredible if she likes mine enough.

Within your first 30 days of upgrading to a new phone you get one chance to swap it out for a a small fee of $35 which is what they say is a restocking fee (used to be free btw). Say if you get a phone and 2 weeks into it you decide you done like it, you can trade it straight up for a different phone of equal or lesser value. I believe if the phone is lesser value, the difference is used towards the $35 restocking. Or it goes toward your next bill.

Ive only had my Droid for 2 weeks. so i can swap it out fine for the incredible next thursday.
