Played with the Incredible Tonight

I just got done playing with the Incredible. It's a great phone, sturdy, slim, and incredibly smooth.I didn't think it would as slim as it is.The red isn't bad, looks really nice.Im not a vzw user but if i was this would be the phone for me.

This from a die-hard Sprint Hero lover.Enjoy the Incredible!!!

I currently have a BlackBerry Curve 8330. I'm looking to upgrade to the upcoming BlackBerry Bold 9650 or the HTC Incredible. I'm starting to lean more towards the HTC Incredible based on the many reviews I've read. I will be able to make my final decision once I play around with it in person when it comes out next week.
The things I like most about my BlackBerry is how efficient it is to copy and paste text, the AutoText feature, and trackball/trackpad for navigating around the screen.
I've heard it's difficult to copy and paste text from Emails on Android. They say you have to use the web in order to do so. I'm not to keen on that.
I saw a 3rd party app that can be installed that supports AutoText. If so, I'd be extremely happy.
Having a trackpad with a touch screen phone is brilliant. It's great for moving around from cell to cell within an Excel Spreadsheet, which I use daily. It would be rather difficult to select the correct cell without a trackpad if I happen to zoom out.

I hear that battery life isn't great. I've seen a site that claims that an extended battery can be added for $59.99

If that would solve the battery issue, along with the viewing in daylight, this will be a must have.

I'm just wondering if that battery is going to be "bulkier" than the stock one. If not, then i'm all over that thing.

The rumored screen sunlight issues and the batter are the only negative things I've read so far. If the batter works with not problem, and I can see fairly well outside, then I'm sold.

Lucked out today at local Verizon store. When going to pick up cleaning this morning, went next door to Verizon to give them a hard time.
I asked sales rep at counter if she had "my phone" and see is playing with new Incredible right there.
Got to play with for about 15 minutes. Originally I was waiting till Thursday to give a test run but I ended up pre-ordering before I left store.
Wow - even the basic apps are mind boggling. Better read up on 205 page instruction manual or I wll be up all night Thursday.

Excellent browser response time, goggle voice feature inside google maps is really cool but will have to get used to virtual keyboard only.

Friday will be fun at the office with my iphone Apple loving workmate down the hall.

Actually compared to the S1 and S2 the copy and paste seems to at the very least be on par with what RIMjob has to offer. Personally it looks like it's much better. There is a video about it on here somewhere...

If it's bulkier, perhaps the "topographic" back casing was designed to accomodate a thicker battery?

according to the rep at my local VZW store the extended battery will have almost double the capacity of the "stock" battery (2200 mAh vs 1200mAh) an would be thicker so it would bave an extended back on the phone. Since it came from a VZW rep you can take it for what it's worth but he sure seemed to know his ****.

I just came from the Verizon store this afternoon. I went in to ask a couple questions about my plan and a little about the Droid Incredible. While I was talking to saleswoman, I saw something sitting in front of her and asked "Is that it?" to which she replied "Yeah, here...you want to play around with it?"

I was pumped to get a hands on with it. Just as everyone said, it's fast...real fast. I wasn't a fan of the Droid and how it felt in my hand when I tried that previously in the store. It felt cheap. This doesn't feel that way at all. And the contoured back which turned me off when I first saw it on the web wasn't as bad as I thought. I still prefer the clean design of the Nexus One.

Being a complete n00b to Android it's different from what I am used to but still felt pretty easy to use. The web browsing experience was much better than on my Blackberry. Very quick and responsive. The touch screen was very fluid and the keyboard was easy for me to use in landscape mode using my thumbs. I was able to type quickly though I made a few typos as I went. I am sure after a couple days I'd feel at home on it.

Now I was originally waiting for the Nexus One on Verizon but this has me very seriously considering the Incredible. I really want to give stock Android a try though so I want to be able to disable the Sense UI to try both without having to root the phone right away. This is a personal preference so that I can see what I like and the reason I am on the fence.

In either case, I was very impressed by the Incredible. This looks like a very solid device and should sell very well. I also asked about accessories and they expect to have a bunch available at launch according the saleswoman. She said there appeared to be a desktop charger listed in the system which didn't have a picture but she expects to be similar to the one the Droid has. In any case, I may pre-order Monday if I decide on the phone and she said she'd make sure the accessories I want will be in stock.

I thought I'd share even though I am sure most of this is not new news.

I wish they would come out with a extended battery that isnt twice as big. I would love something like a 1800 mAh battery so it wouldnt add a bunch of weight to the phone.

It's awesome to hear your perspective. These reports are the one thing getting me through the next several days :D

Same here! Thanks for the mini-review; I'm planning on heading to the VZW store on Thursday and checking one out, but until then this is how I'm getting my fix.

Big +1, especially since its likely that having that big extended battery will bar ppl from using some of those nice covers and holsters.

Only glimmer of hope imo is gonna be Seidio's slim extended batteries. I also read some where that a battery from HTC's Touch Pro 2 is compatible with the Inc. I don't recall the mah though.

that would be nice, i didn't realize that seidio made slim extended batteries, i know that have extended battery cases, but i always thought they were large in size to accommodate the larger battery.

Extended back? I take that to mean that you are in fact going to be required to get a fatter case for the back of the phone?

That sucks.

I don't care about the weight, in fact, I prefer heavier phones over lighter ones for some odd reason. I just don't want to have to get some massive back for it to fit a higher capacity battery.

Yup yup, but looking at this site, batteryboss.org, I think Seidio isnt all that great (especially when price is taken into consideration).

My VZW store sucks. They have an Incredible there, but wouldn't let me even see it. Something about loosing their job... blah blah blah.:D

Well, I stopped by the VZN store near my place this last Satuday, just to see if they have a demo unit, and the lady told me "Yes" we just got one this morning and she went to the back storage and got it for me, and Waaaaw

The moment I had it in my hand, I felt this is Waaw, the look, size, weight, speeeeeed

I spent 15 mins playing with this piece of technology, and I think they were correct to call it "Incredible", the internet connection was very fast, the google search very fast, the HTC keyboard is very easy to use, using youtube was OK, no delay between pic and sound, the UI is very nice and easy with the 7 home screens, also there are lots of Widgets to use, I took pics with the camera inside the store and it was very good not dark at all (even with the not so bright lights in the store)

All in all, this is a must have piece of technology

I checked with the lady and she mentioned they will have around 40 in store on 04/29 and already the waiting list is around 36
