Playing music in my car with USB?

I used to have an IPhone and when I plugged it my USB cable to the car I could play music.

With the LG I plug it in and it goes to my browser for ring tones and onlg plays them. I tried to get my Google Play Music or even YouTube to play with little success. Yesterday I reset my USB in the car and kept pushing play buttons in Google Play and all of a sudden I got my whole library of music and YouTube to work.

Today when I tried it again it only plays my downloaded ring tones again . I can't figure out what to do. Bluetooth works but not the USB. Any ideas?

I've only ever seen iPhones work seamlessly like you are wanting, I've not seen it work with android.
