I don't have unlimited data and every week a score of my applications require downloading updates. Almost all of the upgrades don't really do anything. All of the bloat applications and several others that I rarely use have upgrades that need to be downloaded.
If I download all the updates, the next week they are all back requiring another download.
Is this a communist plot to use up my data plan?

If you don't have wifi at home, try you local library or a Starbucks.
Most apps only update maybe once per two months, if that.

You can keep the apps from updating. Also, you can set your phone to only do updates on WiFi.

If my apps are working fine and there is no major benefit to updating, I avoid most app updates. Often times updates do more harm than good and, depending on the developer, a fix to newly introduced bugs don't come immediately so you are stuck with a problem app.

That will depend on what apps you are downloading.
Obviously you and I are using very different lists of apps. *shrug*
