Sometimes it's the little things that really make a phone that much better than previous device. Here are some that I've noticed:
1. Charging speeds are more consistent, consistently higher and charging times are (naturally) lower.
2. On my S23U, my backup-to-PC using SmartSwitch was taking about 65 minutes using a USB-C 20 Gbps cable. With the S25U being the only variable, the backup took an even 40 minutes.
3. I can use 2 eSIMs at once, and I no longer have to restart when shuffling between them (restart was a specific problem to North America).
4. Face unlock is faster, works at more angles and hardly fails in reasonable lighting.
5. Fingerprint unlock has almost never failed for me, which is great considering my fingertips crack a lot in the winter.
6. Display/AOD brightness auto-adjust based on the ambient brightness is far faster than it used to be.
7. Performance is not "dream level" but it's definitely snappier in every situation.
8. The flat sides actually make the phone more one-handed-friendly, and my left thumb can almost reach the Enter/Send key without finger-gymnastics.
9. There are enough improvements in the camera in total to make up for losing the 10x optical zoom, while the 10x "optical-quality" zoom itself is not bad at all.
10. The QC of the USB-C port is much better. Good cables go in flush, perfectly straight and have a very satisfying "snap" into-place.
11. When using my Snap Luxe 4 attachment and charging wirelessly, the phone gets warm but not hot like the S23U used to.
12. As evidenced by this video, now you don't necessarily need a fat 5A cable to get 45W PPS charging speeds. The 3A cable in the box will suffice.
13. When 3rd-party apps invoke biometric authentication, the prompt is instant and comes up every single time. A far cry from the S23U.
14. Appearance of under-the-finger caret magnification is pretty much OS-wide now.
15.No duplicate notifications (yet!
) "Shared list" activity on Microsoft To Do still generates duplicate notifications...sniff..
16. (Wired) DeX display now seems to run at 60Hz!
17. When backing up to PC via Smart Switch, the prompt for the PIN to backup the Secure Folder comes up faster (so you can let it be and go back to whatever you were doing.)
18. Reading notifications one-handed is easier. You can either tap on the app icon to expand the stack and expand the notification, or you can tap the number and downward arrow on the right to do the same thing. The old 2-finger downward swipe on the notification still works as well.
