Verizon Galaxy S8 Please Help Charging Problems

I drive for Uber so my phone is constantly using the Uber app. I also like to play my own music via bluetooth. I keep my phone plugged in while I am driving but my battery still drains. It did drain completely on me twice, I know that's not a good thing. I have been reading all the tricks and things to do to save the battery and have it set as best I can following those directions to minimal battery usage. But the battery still drains even though I have it plugged in to charge while I drive. After about 5 hours it's down to 50% or less. I have tried not using the bluetooth and it seemed to do ok, but still did not charge while using the Uber app. Is this the best it gets? I was thinking that I need to just plug it into the USB and use the line in instead of bluetooth but trying to get that to work is a feat all in itself. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

You probably want to get a S8 compatible car charger to ensure your drain is minimal while using the Uber app and streaming music via BT.

Also get it from Amazon Basics or Aukey or Anker - a good brand and not a generic Chinese knock off.

Run the Ampere app, with no charger, to see how much the phone draws in normal use (Uber plus Bluetooth). Then turn Bluetooth off and see how much that decreases the drain. Then close the Uber app (back button and seipe it off the recently used apps list) and see how much that decreases the drain. Then plug in the charger and see how much the phone can draw.

That will tell you all you need to know.
