Hi,

I am a complete noob lol. Anyhow, i got this my phone rooted for sure, i got superuser, i got rom manager as well. Now im trying to install the Baked Snack rom. I also got the clockworkmod, thing is, i don't know where i am supposed to put the zip file, i believe it doesnt matter as long as its on the card if i am correct.

I dont think that's the issue, the issue comes where it get into the clockworkmod and then i get

finding package, opening package, verifying update..

"failed to update whole-file signature" and " signature verification failed"

Installation aborted.. what i am doing wrong.. im going crazy.

All help is greatly appreciated :D

Thanks.

weird things is, i have been reading a lot of posts, and nobody in this site ive seen so far has had this problem. When i go to other sites, it's kinda hard to follow because they used odin, not really the same program

Turn off your phone..hold camera button+vol down+power for about 5 sec..use the volume keys to nav. Go to update.zip/zip on sd card/find the rom you wanna unzp/ than chose yes u wanna install...

Also to select things use the camera key

your not being too specific,
first of all the rom needs to be saved on the ROOT of the sd card. so no folders or anything. you should know that if you researched it
are you sure you have clockwork installed? did you do the one click clockwork mod installation?

heres the link: http://forum.androidcentral.com/epic-4g-roms-hacks/34603-clockworkmod-recovery-instructions.html

^if that one doesnt work go find another on xda or something

its necessary because you need a kernel thats clockwork compatible or something like that.

for some reason nobody seems to know to install this first. and then they say the same thing you said.

also is your recovery screen blue? or green?
if its green your in clockwork.

@ txtmikhail,

Thanks, ill try that once i get home

@ shaundizzle

Well the screen recovery is blue, and rom manager premium as well as clockworkmod are both installed. And i had already followed that exact link and flash it twice as well.

All i need to do now is install the rom. I have one question though, does
it matter that i am on eclair DI18? What is dg107, the older firmware?

It gives me the same error if i try to backup the rom as well

I tried to install the rom from rom manager by install rom from sd card.
Does everything have to be wiped and back to factory settings? b4 roming?

It gives me the same error if i try to backup the rom as well.

well theres your problem, you dont have clockwork installed. if the recovery screen is blue you did something wrong.
its ok for it to be blue if you hold down the camera and volume down while you power on- then you click apply update.zip from sd card - then it should take you into clockwork recovery which will be green - then go to install zip from sd card - and choose the rom you want (if you put the rom in a folder, it will not show up)

follow a different one click clockwork mod installation because it did not work for you - it does not matter if you have rom manager and flashed clockwork that way. it wont work unless you do the one click clockwork method and get it to work.

yes it matters what firmware your on. if your on di27 then your on old firmware and it will say "bad file" or somethingi when you try and flash.

nothing has to be wiped back to defaults for you to flash a rom - they will recommend you wipe because sometimes if you dont you might get some force closes on some applications

why is it epic?

im just wondering cuz i went back to bakedsnack from epic experience.

i was going to use wisom because i thought the lock screen and dock were going to be like the evo but to my disappointment they're not. but i kind of like the theme of it. but i like baked more because i think he put more work into it

Baked Snack is definitely a faster and more stable ROM. I'm running Wisdom mostly for the aesthetics and as a placeholder until Baked Snack 1.4 is released.

i actually agree with you that wisdom does look pretty nice. i like the drop down menu. but at the same time i like bakeds too.

i just wish that they could get the lock screen and dock hahaha cuz i think itd be cool to have a different companies ui on the phone. idk if ill like it but i want to give it a try

Can you clarify what you're try to do? Are you trying to move the extracted zImage from Windows to your SD card? Are you using a USB connection or plugging the SD card directly into the computer?

Hey bro , i think i know what your problem is.

1) First you need to Unzip the baked snack zip,

2) Now go the folder and copy the zImage from the Kernel_update folder and move it to the root of your sd card.

3) You need to move the rom you want (*zipped* in the root of your phone - Meaning when you open ur sd card page, It's the first thing you see) - MAKE SURE IT HAS KERNEL UPDATE FOLDER, if that rom doesnt have a kernel (zImage) already that you can replace, then these are the WRONG INSTRUCTIONS.

4) Install Astro on your phone to manage files

5) Using Astro on your phone, delete zImage from the orignial rom(the one that is zipped) that you want.

6) Copy and replace the zImage from the baked snack kernel to the rom you like, the one that you should have in your root from step. and voila your done.

the problem might be that you moved it and the other rom is zipped, meaning you can move stuff into it. You have to use Astro app for that

why does the otehr rom have to be unzipped?

but using astro to copy zimages is so much easier than doing what rag was trying to explain to me earlier haha. i understand its the same premise its just i has no business using that sarchiver app.

well thing about this, you can't move a file into a zip just like that. A file that is zipped is compressed all together at once, meaning that you would have to use a special program for it to work. That's why i said use astro
