Please help, i almost got this thing going but im stuck

Baked Snack is definitely a faster and more stable ROM. I'm running Wisdom mostly for the aesthetics and as a placeholder until Baked Snack 1.4 is released.

Hey bro, what i have realized is that all these launchers kinda make the UI, the rom is what i believe is the os and the kernel is like the bios. Saying that, why don't we install the baked rom and kernel and then install the launcher apks?

For example, launcher pro (the one i currently use) has an apk and can pretty much be installed on any phone. I know you like HTC, can't you do the same thing with the other launcher as well?

why is it epic?

im just wondering cuz i went back to bakedsnack from epic experience.

i was going to use wisom because i thought the lock screen and dock were going to be like the evo but to my disappointment they're not. but i kind of like the theme of it. but i like baked more because i think he put more work into it

I think your right, the thing i love about wisdom the most is the launcher pro, that's really awesome because it's got it's own preferences. Have you tried that one? On another note, you can probably find a htc lock screen if you find an HTC launcher.apk and install it on any rom. I'm not 100% sure on this but i think it's def doable

launcher pro is a lot simpler than touchwiz or htc sense. i think touchwiz and sense are built a lot deeper into the root of the phone. like the rom or some **** that i know nothing about.
launcher pro can be downloaded from the market and used over any rom even stock.

and i think we just had a misunderstanding on the zipped file thing. you said "the problem might be that you moved it and the other rom is zipped, meaning you can move stuff into it. You have to use Astro app for that"

and then you said "well thing about this, you can't move a file into a zip just like that. A file that is zipped is compressed all together at once, meaning that you would have to use a special program for it to work. That's why i said use astro"

so first you said its zipped so you can move stuff into it. and then you said its compressed all together meaning you cant use it.

I see, i messed up on one word. What i really meant is once something is zipped and compressed you can't move files into it. Now if you use a special program like Astro, it will let you copy files into a zip and keep it ziped.

True, the launcher plays a big part of the GUI. And with the Wisdom ROM, there is a specially modified ADW launcher with a theme to mimic the Sense dock. But it goes deeper than that. The dev actually changed the color of the notification bar, the pull down menu, added system settings icons from Sense, changed all apk icons (calculator, calendar, clock, etc.) to Sense icons, changed the battery meter, and added Fancy Widget (the Sense widget clone). That's just off the top of my head - there's probably more.

I actually asked the dev of the Wisdom ROM if he could port the Sense launcher, and he said it would be tough but he'd look into it. I wish it was as simple as a straight install of the sense launcher apk!

There is only one problem i have noticed though, i think launcher pro, because its external, it kills the battery much faster then other launchers. Just a theory (i haven't tested to see) because when you open up task manager, it's sitting in there running... i wonder if it runs 2 launchers. Like the launcher pro edits the other one killing the battery and making the phone slower. Kind of like a third party add on..

Any opinions on that?

i dont think one runs on top of the other, because the first time you run launcher pro, after installing it, it asks which one you would like to use and whether or not youd like to set a default. so id imagine only one is running.
but i do know what you mean that it shows it running in a task manager.

however, ive heard people say that they use launcher pro because its "fast/smooth."
but i have yet to hear anything about battery

I've never had any battery problems with LauncherPro. It definitely is a replacement launcher though, not an add-on. I've completely removed the TouchWiz launcher and widgets before and used LauncherPro instead, so it is a stand alone app.
