Please help me get root # shell

I know this is an older post but I am loading xionia on my phone and trying to figure out why adb shell brings up $ instead of # even on a rooted phone.

Do you know the command line for adb shell?
I tried adb shell su and it just flashes permission denied,
This is all going from PC and see no request on phone

NM odd it came up ok now, after a re-requesting.
