Please Help S-Off

I have an AT&T HTC M8 with 4.4.3
Unlocked and rooted. I tried to gain S-Off using firewater and get this message.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

You need to flash a custom kernel and try again. HTC patched the kernel to block firewater. the patch has been removed in all the custom kernels so firewater works. Just be sure the kernel you flash is compatible with your model M8 and and software version

It can be done in seconds for free with firewater if he is a lucky one with a M8 that can use it. Some M8 cant use firewater no matter what., He needs to use a custom kernel or a older one that hasn't been patched to block firewater

It's really hit or miss but people have had success as recently as this past week.

I got the same message from firewater after performing an OTA update by HTC, so then I had to find a proper stock backup for my M8 from here: COLLECTION of Stock backup's | HTC One (M8) | XDA Forums

I found it and I followed the instructions and then I was back to stock and was able to flash firewater successfully. It's really simple, just keep an open mind and time on your hands.

I tried with a custom kernel, older software version ROM, and still wasn't able to do it so coughed up the $25 to use sunshine.

Nice! s-off is the only way to go if you are going to modify the software. You will have people tell you you dont need it but with todays software and the way htc is doing things now it is almost mandatory. When things dont go quite the way you hoped you will be very thankful you paid that $25

Yup sunshine worked wonderfully on my m8 dev edition. Was able to convert to gpe and then ruu android 5
