Please Help!!! What happened to my Marketplace?

I have only purchased and downloaded apps to my primary account with eception to a couple that I downloaded with my secondary account to troubleshoot today. Ive since done numerous factory resets. Under settings it says this:

NICKNAME VISIBILITY MAKER MODEL CARRIER LAST USED REGISTERED ON
Unnamed Device
Shown in menus
HTC ADR6400L Verizon - May 3, 2011 Edit?

So yeah...

Can I take it back to Verizon? Are we absolutely sure they won't be able to tell that theis happened after rooting my phone?

I did the auto unroot so I think Im stock but Im obviously a noob here so I don't know.

I bought from Best Buy with warranty if that helps.

they dont know anything over there,,,,i was straight telling the verizon manager at bestbuy that i am the one that put the auto root and unroot together and he didnt even blink.

So are we saying that it is somehow broken and for me to have a functional phone again I will have to return my phone for another one?

Also is that the risk of root? Should I not try and root again because I may cause the next phone the same issues?

Even if I get another phone, Marketplace still recognizes the apps as being installed to my account. I have done factory reset after factory reset.

If I get a new phone(hopefully it is honored) wont I have the same problems of Market saying that those apps are already installed?

this has nothing to do with root at all, you are not rooted anymore, you are on a stock image that has nothing at all to do with root. This is a Google account problem

Yes I understand and please excuse my ignorance. Thank you again for reassuring me that I am no longer rooted. What I was asking (and probably not clear about) was can they tell that the connection to android market got kicked off during the process of root if that makes sense. While switching Roms (I think Im saying that right) from stock to root, is there anything during this process that could mess up my android market settings that could flag verizon. I understand Im stock now but me not being able to download directly anymore.... Is that a flag to them that I switched roms back and forth?

Did this paranoid noob make any sense?

Nope dont worry about it, market not working has nothing to do with root or anything . Worst case scenario you say i did a factory reset cause my phone was acting up and all of a sudden my market doesnt work..... dont stress my friend

Man, I can't thank you, DJ and Patriots Fan enough... Now lets see about a new phone....

Even before I rooted when I tried to Setting>Software update my phone displayed the message "Service Unavailable. Try again later when you have service."
I just tried again and the same thing happened.

I just got off of the phone with Verizon tech support and they sound pretty confident that the problem is with Google and that there is nothing Verizon can do about it. The person I was talking to on the phone just started searching forums and googling the issue from his computer and showed the same issue with others. Again Verizon is unable to help with this...

Verizon is mailing me a replacement phone that should be here Thursday but again, they are pretty confident that they new phone will have the same issues since the problem is with Google.

So it looks like I'll be sending them my phone that I have now and they will check it out and if its my error they will charge me. When I get the new phone, I expect to have the same issues I am having now unless Google somehow fixes it. Google has NO contact telephone number. So I just have to wait for them to respond to my emails.

And it looks like some people have been waiting for a minute......

Ok I have another UPDATE:

I have been trying to get this fixed almost nonstop since yesterday. My girl came home today at 8 PM and said to me whats wrong? The TV isn't on... She turns the TV on to see it on the same station she left it on yesterday. She was surprised I was home all day and hadn't gotten off the couch and put my phone and computer down. I seriously have done nothing but try to get this to work.

Anyways, after trying repeatedly to get my Market app to work with no breaks since yesterday other than to sleep a couple of hours, I just gave up and put the phone down because I got tired of looking at it. I set up for Verizon to send me a new phone and I just said I'm giving up for now.

I put my phone down for a few hours to enjoy my evening with my girl. After watching a few episodes on TV and whatnot, I picked up my phone and just for kicks I went in to the Market App.

I then selected the first free app I saw to download and install. It happened to be Angry Zombies.

IT WORKED!!!

I then tried another free app and that worked too.

I had sent off an email to google about the problem and they said they will get back to me if they need any additional information. They have not responded to my email yet but the account works on my phone now. At least for this second. I wander if they reset something for me or if I'm going to have this issue pop up again soon. I want the benefits of being rooted and am considering rooting the new phone that should be here Thursday but I obviously now have my worries.

Im curious to see how long the market app works for before it screws up again. This has been a terrible last two days for me with this phone.

IT DOES NOT SEEM AS IF ROOTING MY PHONE MESSED ANYTHING UP!

It looks like doing a factory reset messed things up with android market place- No fault of root.

Yea it wasnt rooting that ruined it and vzw cant tell that you rooted and then unrooted. They are doing the "if we receive the phone and it has nothing wrong with it we will charge you" because people would exploit the exchange policy. I wouldnt worry about it.

I can suggest next time don't log into your google account in the first set up process. Or if you do get to the market and stop any downloads that are taking place and manually download them one or two at a time.

Anyone know the answer to my following question:

On pc can you sign in to the google market and remove any apps that you have once downloaded but no longer need? To help unclutter and bring down the 200 app count to something much better.

Hi,

Thanks for writing in. I understand the frustration of not being able to
download an application especially after paying for them.

If you receive a "Download unsuccessful" message when attempting to
download an app, please follow these steps:

- Make sure that you are using bxxxxx@gmail.com as your primary account.
Check this by doing Settings > Accounts & Sync.
- Clear your Market cache by visiting Settings > Applications > Market >
Clear cache.
- Restart your device then try downloading the app again.
- Confirm that there is connectivity on your device (contact your mobile
service provider if you aren't connected).
- Make sure you have enough space on your device.
- Reboot your device.
- Wait 10 minutes and try your download again.

Please note that we do not support rooted devices at this time.

If you're still unsuccessful, let us know and we'll be happy to
investigate further.

Regards,

Mike

As of yesterday evening I have been able to download from the marketplace to my primary account with no issue. Same thing today. Everything works. I wander if they reset anything.

Also they put this line in the reply

"Please note that we do not support rooted devices at this time."

Does this mean the marketplace app does not work for rooted devices?
Does it mean the info that I gave them showed them I was rooted?
Could it be a common problem for those who root their devices?
Or is this just some kind of generic response.

Thank you All and I hope I was able to help others by sharing my experience

They don't offer help on devices that are rooted. They only offer help on stock devices. Anything can go wrong when rooting and their resources are limited, its pretty much just a generic response saying if you rooted, your problems are your own.

That being said... i find the rooting/dev community more helpful and faster than posting in googles help forums anyways.

Ok I have a solution for you - I had this same problem after I rooted and I was going nuts. Go to settings>applications>manage applications and find something called download manager. Clear data from it and the market should work again!

EDIT: I just realized you got it working again - I know when you have a whole bunch of apps download like that at once, they do put a 24-hour freeze on your account. But clearing download manager data will get it working without the wait. To avoid future problems, uncheck the box in the setup where it says let Google back up your data. Then you can restore with Titanium Backup or whatever program you choose.

I'm so bad!! I got a new phone and rooted it and flashed it with das bamf 1.6.2. The guides were easy to follow. I felt better knowing that the issue wasnt with the root process but with Android Market. Everything was going fine, then my phone froze. I took the battery out and it loaded to the white bootloader screen. I didnt know what to do so I hit update. The phone rebooted and I lost everything I put on there. I was pissed because I had loaded all of my apps back up and set them all up.

So now I had to put rom manager back on my phone and its last backups that I had stored on my PC. I restored my phone to my last backup through clockwork mod. Now that I'm restored back to that point of my last back up, I have tried the market to download apps again to my phone.

I am getting the download unsuccessful message for everything I download through Market. No matter what I do( ie. resets, cache wipes). I can install apk. from anywhere but Market. Amazon Marketplace works fine and so do developers sites.

I've never heard that I have to wait 24 hours after such a large download run. Is that true? Is that the pickle that I'm in?

I LOVE BEING ROOTED and das bamf 1.6.2 is the shizzle so far for me. But the Market is my headache. :(

I assume it has to be something that went wrong in the market. I have never had more than 20 apps trying to install on my phone from the market. I just looked to see if there was anyway that you can remove most of your apps from the list that automatically makes them start downloading. As i type i checked my market through PC and i have 18 apps in the list. I have to assume your 200 is the problem. It may run into an error trying to handle all of 200 process when you first open up market.

I feel that rooted unrooted. Stock or on rom you will run into this unless those 200 apps are addressed. Like i said before i have had lag when i had 2 on my list and they all tried to install. Like serious lag. I can only imagine what 200 would do to my market.

I don't know what else to tell you other than. Das BAMF Remix is the best!! I just came back to it and am loving it.
