please help >>>wifi / tether issue

I'm not sure if this issue has already been presented on here, there are just way too many threads to go through, to find out. I root my s3 a few days ago, it's still stock, just rooted. i used adb tookit to do it. anyways, after i rooted my s3, i tapped the wifi icon at the top of screen (on phone), and i saw that it won't turn on. i even tried turning it on through the advanced settings and no luck. what can be causing this issue and how do you fix it?

secondly, i installed the treve wifi tether app and it will not work. the app opens up, turns on, and after it goes to turn on, it says, app started, but with errors. it won't even show the download and upload data meter. what is can also be causing this issue? for both issues, i have done factory reset twice and still no luck. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you on Sprint? Could you link us to the method you used?

yes i'm on sprint.

the tookit walked me through the whole process.

i've rooted before, but just using odin and not toolkit..

That Root method is several builds old. I would flash back to stock and try a different method. Go to Samsung updates and download your current ROM again. Search by model number.

Did you get Treve mod to work? My dad just brought me his phone wanting Wifi Tether to work and I can't figure it out for the life of me. I rooted stock, got the apk, started tethering...it just doesn't allow anything to connect. If its not working on the rooted stock anymore, are there any stable custom roms that have wifi tethering working anybody can recommend?

I am running MOAR 5.01 with hot spot built in and works every time. Comes with tons of baked in goodies. Also when I ran stock rooted I had to install an older version of Trev to get it to work, kept trying different ones until one worked. There are older versions here if you dig down, the one I got to work was dated 11/20/2012.
