OK so i tried to flash the 4.0.4 update onto my phone this morning and now it is stuck in a boot loop. The phone can boot into recovery but clockwork mod recovery seems to no longer be installed. The problem is i need to get pictures off my phone. What would be the best way to do this? i was thinking if i could get clockwork installed i could load up an old backup rom only the system files and recover the pictures. The install failed at writing the CDMA radio even tho i was on stock radios for 4.0.2

Seriously any help would be great. im getting on a 4 hour flight with nothing to do but think about the lost (super bowl) pictures.

hopefully there are some responses when i get back.

thanks a lot guys

Boot loops can be fixed with wipes. Try and wipe the cache first then boot back up. If not wipe data. Each time I wipe data to load a new rom my photos are still on my device.

Just to add to what tntdroid already stated...

The only way your internal sdcard storage would be erased is two ways to my understanding..

1. You manually remove/delete items from the internal sdcard/usb storage.

2. Lock your bootloader and then unlock it (when unlocking the bootloader it wipes the device)

Otherwise your pictures should be safe.

ok guys I tried wiping data and cache and im still in a boot loop what would my next step be.

Glad to hear my pictures should be safe tho!:-X

Sorry I'm far from an expert in the field of fixing a soft brick but I think you need to do is flash CWR in fastboot using your computer and from there you could restore one of your back ups. I did a few searches and didn't find much but didn't have much time.

ended up having to load stock image lost it all. cant seem to find any file recovery tools taht can work with MTP since you cant mount the nexus

if you would get into the bootloader(doubles as fastboot) you could have fastbooted touch base recovery by getting in adb

then type

fastboot flash recovery (name of file).img

then it should have let u boot back to bootloader then use the volume button and go to recovery.

if you wype data in stock recovery, IT WILL DELETE EVERYTHING(stock recovery is the droid on is back with a triangle).

yea unfortunately i didnt realize the difference in the wipeing and everything is gone. Is there any known way to mount the partition in a way i could forensically examine it?

at the current time, i believe there is no way to mount the (internel)sd card to see whats actually on it whiile in recovery or fastboot.

i meant a way to mount the file system on a PC so i can image it and try to retrieve pictures before the bits are overwritten with new data
