Look. Every post about Samsung has gotten to the point that there is no discussion because the comments get crapped on with "WAAAAH WHERE'S 2.2 FOR THE INSERT SAMSUNG PHONE HERE." As someone who has it, and has for a while, please, PLEASE stop whining. It's not that great. In fact, Eclair was better. Battery is worse. It broke half the Vibrants in Canada. It took away my favorite live wallpaper. Just shut up already.

Actually, I hope you get it tomorrow, and it breaks your phones, and then you can whine about getting Froyo and how disappointed you are.

Lol, to be fair, DL09 broke Emergency calling in the U.S. (the maintenance update for the Samsung Fascinate, not Froyo) -- unless Froyo for the Vibrant did the same and I'm not aware of it :S

As someone who had NO phone for 8 weeks due to SD card failure, I wish the biggest thing I had to ***** about was friggin' Froyo. Deal with the faulty SD cards and then you guys can whine LOL

For me it's more the principle of the fact. The fact that Verizon and most of the U.S. carriers have turned a blind-eye to it. But I won't go on forever about it, it doesn't do any good and would just make me more frustrated anyway.

My phone works, as advertised, and does it what I need it to do quickly.

Like I said, I was one of the ones that had my SD card fail and had no phone for 2 MONTHS. So, for me, the Froyo update is not anything to be upset about.

If the biggest issue with the phone down there is not getting Froyo, consider yourselves lucky.

Maybe it does not help to complain about it, but its a real issue. When I had my Evo, it was upgraded to froyo very quickly and had no major side effects to go along with it. HTC did a great job. Some tasks also became much snappier because of the JIT coompiler. Motorola updated the X to froyo long ago, admitedily with side effects, but they did none the less. Don't pass off Samsungs failures as a "froyo sucks" argument. Froyo runs great on my Droid2.

Except not. Rooted or not, the Bell Vibrant has a faulty SD unit/mother board assembly. Which is why they extended the DOA and are no longer repairing them but replacing them.

There's some running custom roms, rooted, on their 4th or 5th unit.

Google is your friend...

Well the broken promises is the issue, customer service is the issue. But i wont complain, i just wont buy a samsung phone again. And as far as eclair being better that is completely untrue. I'm running kaosinate v4 now and it is a hell of a lot faster and smoother than eclair. There are Still issues and everything doesn't work but ill take it. The sad part is that a multi billion dollar company will get 2.2 out probably far after our great devs get a solid stable version of 2.2 out. It's a matter of values on sammy's part. And right now the value to push out a great 2.2 update to it's customer is low.

i do agree on one thing, there are far too many "if i dont get froyo im gonna die from gonnacephilherpaids" thread all over the internet. my faith for froyo lies in the indie devs making our good phones awsome, not in vzw and sammy.

I agree that the Samsung-bashing has gotten out of hand, and too many people are impatient to have Froyo for no good reason.

But ... I'm also tired of all of the posters saying "Stop whining; Froyo is no big deal." Maybe it isn't for you, but there are legitimate reasons why some people might want (or even need) it.

I'm about to get kicked out of a smartphone pilot program that my employer is running, because I don't have a compliant device -- the program requires Froyo. When I signed up for the pilot last fall, I assumed we'd have the update by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, more and more apps and games are being released that prereq Froyo, and for good reason; why develop apps for an OS version that's two levels behind the current one?

And there it is. I am not super upset about not having Froyo yet, but I ran into my first case of software that I want that's out now being 2.2+, and when hulu for android comes out, it will also require Froyo.

I get irritated with the people who say, "Just root and quit whining," because there's no ROM for 2.2 on the Fascinate yet. The devs just let slip that they have a leaked version of it. So rooting doesn't even solve the software requirements complaint.
