Which OEM to get the next Nexus?

hence my original point - LG should have been included in the poll.

I left out LG and Samsung because they already had 2 phones for the Nexus line, where HTC only had one.

Also, I didn't see the point in including other devices like ZTE.

makes no sense. LG and Samsung are both strong viable candidates regardless. in fact, an argument could be made that they are even MORE possible than all others given their history with Google. [removed by moderator]

Is it really that big of a deal?

Well seeing as the Nexus is set a far as UI the uniqueness lies in the in the build and specs. With that in mind I like...

1. HTC build quality and smoothness of the One are amazing

2. Sony has been putting out some nice phones and I think that they'd leave it all on the table I'd given the chance.

3. LG has put the last 2 out and look how nice they are. Their current phones are at the top of the spec chart and I think they're in their own personal race with Sammy.

4. Samsung makes quality phones and without the "TW lag" their version of the Nexus would be impressive as well

5. Moto I put a my 5th and final choice not because they're not worthy. I just think they're the closest current thing to stock. That and one of the big sell points of the X is its features. Active notifications and what not

Anyway than that's my thoughts

I think LG is likely.

I personally don't think and don't want Sony to do it, while their mobile division is less closed source than other areas, given their various business and history, I don't want them to associate with the Nexus. Not to mention Google is at odd with the 'Rockstar' consortium that Sony is a part of. Doesn't mean I dislike Sony phones, I have 2 Xperia Play.

I like the idea of Google keep partnering with 3rd party manufacturers instead of doing it in house using Motorola, it would be good for their image I think and gives varieties, although making a Motorola Nexus would probably be better for them at this point.

I wouldn't mind another Samsung Nexus even if the material is cheap, as long as they agree to put in a decent camera this time, their last two was really bad in that area. I don't think this partnership will happen again because Samsung is too big now like Apple and do whatever they want.

I voted for Oppo Nexus, but I don't think it will happen. It would make a phone with good build quality, great display and decent camera.

There is zero chance that Moro will build the next Nexus. Maybe even less than that.
The Nexus is known for having top notch specs. Moto is going in a different direction than that.
The Nexus gets fast updates, Moto has shown they can be plenty fast enough without being a Nexus.
Moto has a lot of work to do to return to profitability, they would be foolish to waste resources on a niche product(face it, the Nexus is not meant for the general public, its for a specific, small segment of the population)
How upset would other OEMs be if the first two phone models(the Nexus and the next X) to be updated were the phones produced by the company owned by Google. Even if Google doesn't show favoritism, it should would look like they were.
There are just too many factors pointing against Moto making a Nexus any time soon.

Motorola doesn't need to make a Nexus to be successful.

Not that making the Nexus makes you successful... :)

It will be the iNexus 6s, sporting a 6" curved 4k screen, and ship with 'Cup o' iOS cake' 8.0

BBM will be the default SMS app, and the UI will have a metro look featuring live tiles.

Motorola building the next Nexus would reek of impropriety. With all the talk of RMA's, LG is probably loosing their shirt on these last two releases.

We should have a poll to see just how many members on here have returned their phones and how many they have had to return before they got one that made the cut.
