Is anyone else having a GPS issue? My office is in the corner of a building, with all windows. I had an EVO and an old 8330 Curve BB pick up a GPS signal within 15-20 seconds. My epic won't pick up a location using google maps.

I've already gone to the "locations" option in settings and made sure the GPS option was enabled. using Sprint Nav, it thinks i'm in Kansas City when i'm just outside of DC. I'm on 3g, no dice. 4g, no dice. Satellite icon shows sending/recieving.

I'm kinda wondering if i should head back to the sprint store or see if there's any settings i may have overlooked? aGPS is the actual GPS setting/toggle switch in the phone, correct?

Thanks!
Brian

I haven't had any problems. When I first Google maps, it had my location as NY (I'm in Philly), but after I closed & opened it again, it found my location in less than 10 seconds.

I posted this in the first impressions sticky. It took about 5 minutes for me to get a GPS signal.

YEA...having major trouble picking up a GPS signal. I'm in Novi, MI...on the highest point of the whole metro-detroit area, top floor of an office suite with windows all around me... no go.

The GPS worked perfect for me after installing the update. I did not enable google services either. I used it to navigate my way back home.

Try this - weird for me but the minute i was outside, the app finally picked up the GPS location. Also, after running the OS updates, there was nothing, i went to the android market, and found that there was a google maps update. run it. I don't know if that has anything to do with it (prolly not) but it does seem to work better. Do keep an eye on the gps locations. Seems like once the phone is able to make an initial lock, it then works fine after that. (even after a reboot)

I already had to make an exchange due to a faulty hinge. On that unit, it did take awhile for the GPS to lock. The new one I got, locks on almost instantly outside, and within 1 minute in my house (GPS only, wireless network assistance off). So, I would say probably depends on the unit Maybe.

I'm playing with two right now that are suffering from the GPS issues that were mentioned on the other Galaxy S devices. Although it seems minor, the positioning is just off by a few blocks.

I used the phone for 3 hours all over chicago city & it kept showing me in Schaumburg, Barrington & palatine. These are about 15-25 miles SW of chicago. Every one is entitled to their opinion, however I am a hard core Internet & navigation user on the phone. This phone left me a real sour flavor in my mouth.

I had GPS issues too... I had to turn on use wireless networks option. I figured that out after about 10 minutes. I didn't return the phone though because I wasn't looking for problems. Obviously this guy didn't really want the phone. A normal person would ask someone or read the effing manual

I don't think anybody else is having problems that are THAT bad. Did you try a different phone?

Yes the wireless network option was turned on. I am not a newbie to cell phones & android. I have been using cell phone since some of you were not eating solid food...

Have you turned on the "use wireless networks" option?
Lol, NO, he shouldn't do that to test GPS. That isn't going to help with GPS, that gives you very inaccurate tower estimated positioning.

Yes that seems to be the typically finding of people checking.

Let's hope Samsung hurries with a fix.

yes activated another phone at best buy & took the sales person outside the store with me. Stood there for 10 minutes with Google maps & sprint navigation. GPS was showing me in Barrington off 90 W, which is about 35 miles from where I was. The sale rep asked if i wanted the Blackberry 9650 back. I am really heart broken as I was looking forward to Epic since the failure of EVO due to poor battery.

I'm sitting in my living room and it is accurate within a few feet.
