POP Email password reset

I have a POP email account set up to download email from my university mail server. Setting up was no problem on my Incredible and have been using without issue for several months. University forces password changes every three months. I changed the password on a PC and then tried to change on my phone. I have multiple times gone into settings and changed the password and it will no longer connect to the mail server. Several of my friends also have this issue with their Android phones and the only solution anyone seems to have found is a factory reset. But I do not want to have to completely reset my phone every 3 months. Help! Thanks.

Can you not go into the manual change and change the password?

edit, sorry, see that you said you have changed the password. Hate to say something that might be obvious, but are you hitting "next" or save and not just exiting?

I am doing all the obvious things. Making the change in the account settings. Saving, etc. It seems like the system is not really saving the new password. I cannot switch back the old password to confirm. I know four people with the identical issue when changing passwords on the U mail server, so I was hoping that it would be something people here knew about... Thanks.
