A buddy if mine just got a Droid X and I was helping him set up his POP mail. When he tries to send mail he gets a message saying "message failed" but he can receive mail with no issue. His mail is through realpages.com and I have it set up as POP mail. I also set is mail up on my INC and it works perfectly, I can send and receive on my phone but for some reason on his X he can't send. He went to VZW to show them the issue and they said it is a problem with the software from Motorola and it could be fixed via a software update but didn't state if there is one coming (not sure if they were referring to Froyo, I didn't go with my buddy to VZW or I would have asked). My buddy is technology challenged so he doen't know all the questions to ask at times.

I wanted to post here to see if anyone else is or has experienced this and if there is a work around. I did a search but didn't come up with any results so I hope someone can help me.

Thanks :-)

I had to setup my email as IMAP in order for it to work. I had a domain name that used gmail, and the outgoing was still smtp.gmail.com. I could send emails, but I wasn't receiving them, and as soon as I switched the incoming to IMAP on my droid X, it worked just fine, and works just as fast as my gmail app on the X. Good luck!

I have about 6 different email accounts between personal and bussines, and my one account is hosted by Go Daddy.

That being said, "some" hosting sites require a specific SMTP server to be configured in the settings. In addtion a specific port number maybe required as well.

FOR EXAMPLE: SMTP Server might be: SMTPOUT.secureserver.net
The Default port is: 25, where the hosting site might require it to be a differnet port such as 589...and for that matter, may also required it be secure.

I would suggest that you or he call or research on the web, the ISP or Hosting Site and the request the correct information.

Hope this helps...

The interesting thing is I can set up his mail to send and receive on my incredible but not on his X using the exact settings. VZW support tied to tell bok it is an application issue with Motorola but I think they have no clue.

I appreciate all the suggestions.

Send from my Droid Incredible.
