Question Pop Up Message

Hi all,

About once a day, at random times, I receive a random message that turns the screen on, even if on charge. The screen stays on full brightness unless I press either "cancel", "ok" or the back button on my phone.

The message is always different but about gaming, or getting free credit from my network provider.

I contacted my provider to ask them to stop the messages but they checked and said it's not from them.

No app shows it's loading or opened from the message, it just turns on my screen even if my screen is off. Which is really annoying late at night or if the phone is in my pocket.

Any idea how to find out what is causing it? I've ran malwarebytes but nothing.

Samsung Galaxy S23 ultra

Many thanks in advance

That would be a toast notification. These are ads usually from other apps you have on your phone with permission to send notifications. It's sneaky cause they don't reveal their source but there's an app for that.

Toast Source helps identify where these ads come from. If this app isn't available in your region search for similar apps using the term toast notification.

If it works we can thank B. Diddy for the tip.

Let us know what you find.

Thanks, I've downloaded it and will wait to see what comes about. Will update you

So the notification popped up today whilst I was on the phone but nothing showed up or is in the saved toasts. It is working as its showing up with system ui's when I copy text, delete emails etc. Any other suggestion?

It was worth a try to use Toast Source, but looking more closely at your screenshots, I don't think those are true toasts (which are typically in translucent windows that don't have any interactive buttons in them).

You may want to try Nice Catch instead, which is available in the Galaxy Store.

Hi there,

Nice Catch hasn't worked either, apart from a System UI, "unknown reason" item, although I get many of those anyway.

I used Google Translate for the second screenshot -- it says "Free credit 6000 Dhs. To call within Zain and other networks, there is a weekly subscription of 3000 Dhs. Click OK to subscribe." Do you use Zain for your mobile service? If so, it seems like it's a network-related message. Have you spoken to their customer support?

It looks like coming from game club look for anything you downloaded game wise
If you go in safe mode for good amount of time it shouldn't show up because you will have disabled 3rd party apps in that mode.

Hi Diddy,

That was my initial thought so I contacted Zain and showed them a few screenshots. They checked but said it's not from them. Plus I've checked with family and friends on Zain and none of them get any similar notifications, either on android or iphone

Thanks Mustang. It must be a third party app and will have to try delete them one by one until it goes away.
