populate only certain contacts when texting

Does anyone know how to just get my family group to populate when I go to compose a text? When I type in the first letter or two of the name every single person and email I have linked drops down and I just want to see the friends and family that I have phone numbers for.

I believe if you open up your contacts and then go into the settings it gives you the option to only display contacts with phone numbers

Open your dialer, click on "groups", then choose the group you would like to message, click "menu" and then "send message".
