Hey, I just received my fake-leather portfolio case that I bought from Ebay today and I thought I would do a little review for you guys.

So first things first, pictures of the case! (Note all photos taken with my Evo ;) )

Sorry, this one came out a bit blurry

I purchased the case for about $10 on Ebay from a Chinese company. I wasn't sure what to expect, but so far I am pretty impressed by the quality. The fake-leather material has a very nice feel to it. It doesn't feel like crap, but at the same time I don't feel like I need to baby it. It is right in the sweet spot. All of the stitching is black and inside of the cover has a soft cloth on the inside. It reminds me of a thin jersey material. From the layout, it looks identical to the Keivkev case (but at 20-25% the cost).

The cover has two small magnets in the corners which was an un-expected nice touch. You have to actually attempt to open the cover, it won't open easily on its own.

Overall, the case has a very nice simple look to it, which I appreciate.

The Xoom slides into the case and there is a little flap you tuck under the Xoom to secure it. There are no straps or sticky bits to worry about. The fit is a bit snug, but this is a good thing. The Xoom feels rock safe and sound in the case. It isn't going anywhere.

So how does the Xoom look in the case? See for yourself:

I am just going to break it down into pro's and con's from here.

PROS
  • Xoom looks awesome in the case
  • Multiple viewing angles that are all functional (I found typing to be much, much easier in the 30? angle)
  • Near upright angle is great for videos and video chat
  • You can access all the ports on the bottom while the Xoom is in the case
  • Big open holes in the back keep the speakers from being muffled
  • Dirt cheap

CONS
  • When the Xoom is in the 30? angle it is upside down, which means all the buttons are upside down. Kind of confusing when trying to adjust the volume, but you get used to it.
  • When at 30? plugging in large headphone jacks doesn't work well. They poke out at the bottom and can keep the Xoom from resting on a flat surface.
  • Can't access SD card slot (not that is a major issue atm)
  • Apps that force portrait mode appear upside down in the 30? angle. I only encountered this with games so far. Gmail and the App Market worked perfectly. I think it has to do with Honeycomb optimization.

Overall I would give this case a 8-8.5/10. It meets almost all of my desires for a case. I really wish the button orientations didn't get messed up and I wish my games weren't upside down. But for $10 I can't complain.
