Porting number to Verizon for the GN

Soo... I am in a sticky situation. I currently only have a business phone line and very desperately need a personal line. I have to go out today and get a new line with Verizon. My question is, If I sign up today, I will want to keep that number permanently. So in 14 days (return period) If the gn is not out I would either have to cancel that line and lose the number or port to another carrier until I could port back. This is obviously me trying to avoid paying full price for gn. Anyone have any other suggestions?????????

Just borrow a Verizon compatible phone from someone and use that until the nexus comes out. No contract needed.

get google voice and carry a laptop around until the gnex comes out

I agree with binox, port the number to Google Voice and then it won't matter what your VZW number is. I couldn't tell you my work number because my GV number is all I use, and it doesn't stay with the company when I leave.
