Once I port my number from Verizon to Fi, will verizon automatically kill that line or do I still need to call them?

Part of porting the number is terminating the line. My line was brought from a corporate plan onto a family plan then immediately ported to Fi. The family plan owed nothing for the line (though they tried their hardest to bill for it) since it wasn't on the plan for more than a few minutes before it was terminated for the port.

When I ported over from AT&T, AT&T closed my account without my having to do anything.

Ported my number from Boost Mobile to Fi last week. I had to call Boost to get my account number which is used for nothing except this process apparently. This forces you to talk to a retension specialist, but she was nice. The port went smoothly when I got the phone since I had entered the info already. It switched over in about 5 minutes. I did not have to call Boost back, in fact I can't even log into the Boost site anymore.

Hi. When I ported my number from Verizon, they close the line but left the account open. Since then, I get a notification from Verizon every month that I have a bill from them with a zero balance. Repeated attempts to call customer service to close the account has failed. Since I'm not being charged, I figure it's just the rising being a ****.

It is always best practice to call the old carrier immediately once the port has happened to confirm there will be no surprises.
