Possible Android NooB...Questions...

That's the other knock against my BB. I have 2GB of onboard memory and another 16GB on my SD card and I'm stuck with the 512MB limit which the OS has to go onto as well as any apps I want. It's just dumb IMHO...

for now, you'll be in the same situation, however the phone boots with over 700mb free memory for app storage, so you should be fine for a while :)

kinda of a noob question has well, I have an Envy 2 and getting the Incredible, how do I transfer my contacts from first phone to second? Do I have to go to the Verizon Store to do that or is there another way?

If you haven't already, sign up for an online account on Verizon's website, the download Back-up Assistant onto your Envy 2. It will back up all your contacts on Verizon's servers. Then when you get your Incredible, download Back-up Assistant onto it, and it will put all those contacts on your new phone. It's also free. And I do, so that if I ever lose or damage my phone, my contacts aren't lost.

I have been seen on here that the phone will have back up assistant on the incredible. So you can just do it that way.

If you root you phone you will NOT void the warranty??? I read that you WILL void your warranty if you root ... Hmmm

false. you lose support, but not your warranty unless they can prove the root is the cause of your hardware problems.

once apps2sd works on the phone you should have no problems doing it.

the OS update variant is desired because it will allow the general public the ability to do it, which makes it more beneficial for a developer to take advantage of it and we should (hopefully) start seeing some better looking/more complex applications that need the space

AMEN! that is the one and only place android falls behind the iphone and WebOS is not giving large built in storage and being able to utilize all of it so the apps can have a much nicer interface and better quality. but it does seem they are starting to take note i hope!

i have a feeling they'll implement it in a similar fashion to how wp7 seems to be going to do it

another noob question

Hey... another BB user here...

just wondering how droids sync with desktop/other email calendars and address books... on my BB (through the BB Desktop Manager), it is super easy to sync with my work email and get all my work contacts on my BB and then also realyl easy to sync my Groupwise email calendar and appointments to my BB as soon as I plug it into my PC. Do Droids do something similar? Probably a dumb question, I know, but I've been using BB's for years and years. Just not sure if I should make the switch!

Google Calendar syncs wirelessly, and almost instantly as well. I was testing it out on a moto droid, and eris in the last week for customers.

First, I thank the OP and Adiliyo. There are so many questions I have had and didn't know where to start or how to word my questions. Questions and answers are here and have resolved all of my concerns. Others have posted and all have contributed to my decision to switch to the Incredible. I have the Blackberry Storm 1. (I know) But I truly love it and switching from BB to Droid is a little unnerving. This is the first thread that has made me feel as comfortable as I do at Crackberry.com. Adiliyo, when I grow up, I want to be like you. :-)
