Possible bad phone?

Looks like I need to return it since nobody else is having any problems. I bet it's going to take forever to find another one at radio shack to swap with lol

you don't have a case that covers the power button do you?
some have had problems from the power button being too sensitive
maybe you could test that out

My only issue is that I have to get used to it's "hugeness". when I hold it and do stuff with it, I sometimes hit the search button lol.

No my power button looks good. Radio Shack is sending a replacement should have in a few days. Tech support seemed to think it was a hardware problem. I'm guessing my phone won't be the only one screwed up in this way so everyone should watch for it. It's a fantastic phone I really can't wait for one that doesn't have so many problems.

Disabling Fast Boot and doing a Factory Reset from Recovery fixed my friend's random reboot issue. Worth a try before you get too attached to how you've set up your phone.

Yeah I factory reset and disabled fast boot. It cut back on frequency of reboots, but still getting sms resource errors, dropping 3g and wifi as well randomly. Couple more days it will be gone. Pretty excited nobody else is having the problem. Phone is absolutely awesome.

Has anyone had any more problems with their evo v's? I was all set to buy this phone, but when I started to hear about the reboot problems I decided to wait. I was wondering if it would make a difference waiting for the vm branded phones?

It'll make no difference as it's just branding. Hardware versions are still the same.

I've had mine for 5 days. Aside from the activation glitch, no issues. Rooted, too.

Had mine for 2 days so far and it runs like a champ (pure Sprint branded from Best Buy). Don't be discouraged, this thread seems like an isolated issue and not a widespread problem.

I'm on my second evo v... First one rebooted all the time or locked up requiring a battery pull. 2nd one is going on 48hrs without ANY issues... There definitely is some bad hardware floating around. Just give it a couple of days before unlocking and rooting.

Radio shack exchanged without any issues.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I'm glad to hear there have not been any more issues with this phone.

Mine is having the same problems as the op. Rannnnndom reboots, worked fine for a couple of hours then just reboot city now, its usually when the screen turns off it will lock up and reboot :(

I'm trying to narrow down apps that I have put on this thing. I'm hoping that's it.

If anyone else is having this problem just get an exchange. There is no way to fix it yourself.

My replacement is giving me the sms errors and dropping 3g constantly and now the touchscreen messes up frequently. Maybe 3rd times a charm on replacements. I really want this phone!!

I've been on the phone with Virgin Mobile for hours on separate occasions trying to get the sms resource shortage fixed to no avail. This being my second 3d in two weeks and it constantly messing up, I'm kind of regretting switching to it and having to go up to $45 a month.
