Hi, new to this forum.
Just hate the new look with white background and thin black text. Any way to customize menu colors, gmail app colors to like dark with colored text without rooting?

If you really cannot live with the white background or are visually impaired, try...

Settings > Accessibility > Vision > Negative colours (check the box)

Tnx for tip, buts not actually solve my issue.
I use the phone a lot during nightimes, and after the last update to lollipop, it changed from soft colored menues to bright white.
Sometimes i wonder if any app/ softare developper never uses their phones in dark enviroment.

I just wanna customize the UI so it suits my needs. So guess rooting is the alternative.

Alternatively, you could flash the stock Samsung KitKat firmware for your phone, CSC and Product codes, as per #1.11 of 41 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide
