Possibly Delayed until March?

I know it's only rumor, but I went to a local Verizon store in NYC this afternoon and was told the phone won't come till March due to the iPhone. I find this whole dilemma disappointing to be quite honest. I love Verizon and have always supported them when people discuss the best carriers, but this just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Not because they are delaying, but because they are trying to squeeze out every possible sale for an outdated 3G iPhone. It's nice to know that the phone we have all waited so long for will literally be old technology the day it is released. Good product release scheduling Verizon!

Where in NYC? I plan on going to one in midtown east or the one on 86

Dude, I have seen about 10 posts in the past 2 days where people are complaining about the release date... Why is it necessary to create ANOTHER topic?

Everyone needs to JUST calm down... It's a phone, not the second coming...

Why do you get to dictate how others should react and feel? You handle it your way, others will do the same.

You're choosing to read these threads that annoy you.

You completely missed the whole point of my post. There are a ton of these topics floating around, why create another to discuss the same thing? It's common forum etiquette not to spam message boards.

A firm release date, from Verizon, has not been set yet (for whatever reason). Therefore, you can't justify getting angry over "delays." I'm pretty sure (someone can correct me if I'm wrong) that "Coming Soon" doesn't equate to a certain period of time.

All I wanted to say was don't spam the boards, I'm looking to start a fight over this...

I'm not saying I disagree with you! I see what you mean, tons of repetitive threads on here. But I think that's because since we have no cool new phone to play with and talk about, we're left with discussing release dates mostly. Ha.

The mods do a good job of merging threads though. You can report a thread and request it to be moved. But really it's just easier to skip threads than to report every one!

So, like I said, I actually do agree with you. Here's my top 5 reasons for "staying calm" over the TB release date soap opera:

1. I have more important things to stress over.

2. Stress is bad for my health.

3. It'll release when it does, my worrying won't change anything.

4. I'll probably have another new phone in a year anyway.

5. It clogs up the forums and annoys ppl.

:)

Oh good, then we are on the same page :)

I agree with your "Top 5" list and completely agree!

Am I excited about the Thunderbolt? Heck yeah.

Am I itching for them to release it? Do you even have to ask?

Do I understand it's a phone and there are bigger things in life to worry about? Definitely!

Hopefully we will both love our new Android lifestyle and won't look back to the old BB ways!

I agree. Verizon has always been slow to bring out the higher tier phones, usually crippling them as well. They've actually been better about that more recently, eg, the TP2. Even BestBuy did not promise a specific date. Of course, everybody would rather have this phone last week rather than next week, but that's life, delays and waiting are a part of normal human existence. Welcome, BTW.

Top reasons why I am not stressing out:

1. I have a Storm 1, when I get the new phone I am going to be frustrated and not know how to do anything anyway...so I am trying to be realistic.

2. I like Chrissy's comment about the fact that it is beyond our control...it will happen when it happens...I have no idea why the wait...but if it is problems with the phone, why get all excited and then get let down.

3. I did not pre-order...maybe I will get in on the first wave...maybe I will have to wait a week or two...I don't know how the game is played...if I have to wait for Verizon to get me two phones....well there you go!

4. I was excited and anxious..but the "delays" and reading our threads have sort of beat that out of me, now I am a feeling a bit more patient.
...to the point of even just waiting until the summer phones come out...

5. I am still a bit nervous about the battery...only time will tell and I am not going to bash what we don't know about...BUT IMO it is a failure of the EVO 4G (I have a friend who has one...without additional charging it is dead by 2:00 PM...not panicking yet..I don't use bluetooth or mobile "hotspot" BUT...we shall see...

I totally agree with your #1! My BlackBerry Tour is working at least. No, I can't browse full websites. But besides that I'm actually satisfied with this phone. I know it inside and out. I'm prepared to explore and be frustrated by my first Android.

I'm also concerned with battery. Not worried though. I'm willing to give up some battery life for a phone that I can use the internet and widgets. I'm looking into extended ones now.

And with that kind of thinking, you will not be disappointed. =]

I also heard March today.

I stopped in this am to a Verizon store in my neighborhood and the gal there said they were originally told the 24th, but was told first part of last week that it's now March, and they suggested end of March. She didn't say why, but that's what she was being told.

She also said the in-store reps will only hear a firm date a week ahead of time before a phone is released, so that they can prepare, train, etc. And, she said if it were the 24th, they would've heard for sure by now.

Who knows for certain.

There have been multiple reports saying that the reps are already trained, both on the phone itself and at the PoS for the phone.
