Doubt it. Like DA6 mentioned, I'm pretty sure we'll be waiting until the end of March for this, if not later than that. Would be nice to get it this week, though.

And Monday has just started. There is still lots of time left today. Just be happy knowing you have the best smart-phone on the market, and it soon will be better.

That 'famous' guy on the Moto forums posted a link telling people if they wanna know when it drops, to subscribe to that one.

1.) He's a idiot and has no clue whats up

2.) He knows when the release date is and its very soon (or he wouldn't of made that thread)

3.) He just knows that its soon and someone told him to make that thread


I hope its #2. And regardless of what 2.1 does and doesn't have, a upgrade of any caliber will be appreciated!

An upgrade that doesn't wreck the root capability would be the best (or at least make it similar to the Nexus root), because we can then get more native droid support, without sacrificing 5 screens.

From what I've seen with Verizon and BlackBerry updates, no one really knows when the release will happen. (I assume Verizon uses the same testing procedures for Android devices)

Typically as soon as a release passes the final stage of testing, the weels are set in motion and there is typically only a small window of time (a few days) between when the release passes, and the updates start to roll out.

So, from what I have experienced in the past, no one, not even Verizon knows when the update will come, unless it has already passed all of their testing.

Its a good sign that we are seeing leaked versions, and this tells me that more and more testers within Verizon are seeing the 2.1 update. Lets hope they got a quality build that passes testing.

Tbh, that ESE53 version looks fantastic, and I want to install it soooo bad, but I'd rather wait for official since it honestly can't be far off. If they botch the Q1 promise, people are going to riot, and Moto/VZW know it. Soon, soon, soon, my pretties.

By end of Q1 was the promise. And I doubt they'll go back on that! As Chris says "they'll riot" and I agree. VZW doesn't need that to happen because they would lose a lot of customers. Wireless customers are fickle like that.

I wonder how many Droid owners there are out there that don't browse Android sites like this, and have no idea a 2.1 update even exists

I'm sure there are quite a few people who don't even know about this website. Everyone I run into with droids run stock. I would think more people just enjoy their phones as is. It is an amazing device.

As much as it kills me to say it, I'm probably gonna wait for OTA. It's so easy to update to ESE53, I know, but I'd rather have an official build instead of having to root, unroot, and then re-install and update. Argh.

From VZW's facebook page and forums and Motos facebook page and forums, my guess? Hundreds of thousands.

I'm sure there are quite a few people who don't even know about this website. Everyone I run into with droids run stock. I would think more people just enjoy their phones as is. It is an amazing device.
