Post here if you have GOOD battery life

Settings, about phone, battery, then battery use
Ok I found it but it say Im at 86% but I have the brightness slider way down is there another way for me to turn brightness down, IDK what im doing wrong, what else in the display should be down or off?

took it off the charger at 10am est
been dling some apps, used Pandora in the car for about 25min, played a game, been txting and gtalking and fiddling all day (i would say Moderate-heavy amount of use today) and all on 4g. and I still have a little over 30% left.

so over 8 hours so far. Not bad at all I would say.

I don't know if this is what you mean, but i find that there is some confusion about the screen. Turning it down will decrease how much power it uses, but as long as you are using the phone the screen will draw power, and will likely be the biggest percentage of use... Make sense? It will be less than if brightness was 100%, but it will likely always be the highest battery hog. I sense that people think thaat if the screen is at 25% then it should only drain 25% (Maybe not you, but others.....)

I read someone display by a pic they posted and it was at 48% while mine is at 86% so im wondering how that person's is so low and im all the way up there

There is a awesome app for this. It's called "brightness level" by curvefish. Put a shortcut for it on one of your homescreens.

So I was one of those terrible battery guys. Having SSOOOOOOOO many issues to the point of not liking this phone. Then I said screw it, and took some advice and uninstalled the Taskiller Free that I've been using since day one one my OG Droid. Reset my phone and let it sit for about a half an hour. Normally that would mean about 20% battery gone, but when I checked it, it hadn't gone down 1%!! Then I thought I messed up my phone, and started doing things, and after about 5 minutes of playing I saw it went down 2%.
I'm back to loving my phone!!! If you haven't uninstalled your taskillers, I was a hardcore for them, now I've spend most of the day telling my friends with 2.2+ to get rid of it.
This Blockbuster fix may help even more!!! ;)

What's the difference between that and turning the brightness down yourself?

If only more people would be as proactive as you, we wouldn't have so many complaints!

Ok, sorry, but I'm buying a smartphone in an iPhone 4 world. I kind of expect my phone to last through 2-3 days with moderate use. Not 4-6 hours. I have brightness at lowest, updates every hour, VERY light use. I get to work at 4pm. At my break at 6pm, it's drained about 50% from being in my pocket. By my lunch at 8pm it's about dead.

Am I expected to keep it turned off every minute I'm not using it? Or turn off most of the features? The battery life is garbage, plain and simple.

Nothing, it just makes it easier/faster, and you have access to it right on your home screen. So keep it at 25 percent inside and when you go someplace brighter just quick tap auto/75%/50%/100%.

i guess it doesn't solve the problem but makes adjusting settings easier.

I don't know why the Bolt sucks so much battery from the screen. Mine is between 40-80 depending on how much I'm playing. I'm still getting good life though.

Well if I have my screen low and a lot of updating going on, or hotspot usage they would creep up and as a percentage my screen would go down... Also, there is an HTC widget for screen brightness that cycles through in increments that was installed (In reference to Originally Posted by Forgetful

Charge it in the evening. Pull it off the charger right before you go to sleep. When you wake up in the morning I guarantee you'll be less than 40%.

Noob here, Im thinking the lower the display the better or is it opposite? Im asking because you stated that

(if I have my screen low and a lot of updating going on, or hotspot usage they would creep up and as a percentage my screen would go down... )

My display is at 86% when I check the battery stats. But my brightness is only at 25%. I got about 8 hours use without a extended battery so I think that's pretty good, was just wondering what's the difference between display percentage and brightness percentage.

umm did that last night and woke up to a dead phone ugh flashbacks, thats when I started inquiring about battery and what changes I can make to make it better.

Not having any battery issues at all did bump charge when I got it being battery only had about 1 hour left on it. So let phone completely die and then recharged + bump charge. Currently have gmail / 2 yaho email set to check every 30 minutes, 1 twitter, 1 facebook set at 30 mins. Brightness set to 25 percent running basic apps:

Handcent
Fandango
Appbrain
Redbox
Astro file manager
SC2casts Pro
Kindle
Shopsavvy
SystemPanelLite
Fast Web Installer
few other various.

Edit: Running in 3G area don't have 4G here yet.

Are you guys connected to 3G, 4G or wifi? I've currently been off the charger for about 10.5hrs and just now hit 82% with very light usage on wifi other than a 30min phone call which shows as having used 41% of that.

My battery life has been great... I worked an overnight shift last night, went into work at 11pm with a full charged battery, used the phone for a few hours while at work, probably 3-4, it was on the whole time, left work at 8am with 40% battery left. *shrug*

As of today I am getting roughly 4.5 minutes per percent of battery use. I did the Blockbuster fix and turned off sync on the stuff I don't care about. No other power saving optimizations whatsoever. So 7.5 hours right now - I am sure if I put more thought into power saving I could get rather more life.
