Just woken up and needs his eye(s) cleaning:

Thought I'd take these two images too. First one is an attempt to show how small the spider is with some sort of comparison to everything else around.
Second image - all I did was turn Pro Mode on so I can use Macro focusing, everything else standard, and got a good pic of the spider. You can even see the fine hairs of its legs when zoomed in. I'm sure it could look even better with some more settings tweaks or enhancements.

How do you do those? I presume it's something in Pro mode but I've no idea what any of them mean apart from focus.

Yes, called bokah. Usually need a dual camera phone. Ip7+, Huawei P9, Mate 9, P10, op5, etc.
You can get "real" bokah by moving close to your subject.
