Post some tricks you have found with the LTE

I'm loving the phone, but does anyone know or has figured out how to get to the Albums/Gallery directly from the Camera? I clicked on the pic button that is directly under the camcorder in Camera, I can see my photos but when i hold down on the pic no options come up. I have to go to the Apps and launch Gallery to delete any videos or pics i have taken.

It seems to have a quirk or be its own version of gallery, if you hold in the middle it does nothing, but touching the top or bottom (or sides if you are landscape) of the screen brings up the share/edit/etc.

One small bit of utility I just noticed was when you press volume up/down, the icon on the bar that appears is clickable and you can switch to full mute or vibrate directly. Not sure if that is an ICS thing or has always been that way and I never tried it.

from the camera, click the photo button on the bottom right of the screen. click anywhere on the screen when the picture is displayed to bring up the options (share, delete, etc.) click the left arrow on the top left of the screen. it will bring you to the camera shot sub-folder. click the arrow again and it will bring up the full gallery. from there, click the phone's back button to go back to the camera app...

One easy way to uninstall an app...

1) Open the App Drawer.
2) Tap and hold the app you want to uninstall.
3) Drag the app to the "Uninstall" box at the top of the Home screen.
4) The message "Uninstall <app name>?" comes up.
5) Select "Uninstall".

you can also drag the volume slider when the volume bar comes up. for example if your volume is all the way down just press volume up, and slide over. great for movies, instead of having to hold down or hit the button a bunch. just drag to the desired volume

Alright folks, granted, we got a beast of a phone but, coming from the original Evo 4G, here are my issues with this device.
Please, if you know a solution for these by all means POST IT ASAP!!

1) on the Gmail app when trying to copy text you used to be able to just click on the highlighted text to copy it to clipboard, now you have to go down to the bottom left and click on the icon to do it. This is only on the Gmail app.

2) The menu button will be sorely missed. Now the menu for each app appears, depending on the app, on a different part of the screen, as opposed to having it always on the same spot.
The "Recent Apps" button is UTTERLY USELESS! With the original Evo, you used to be able to press and hold the home button and see the most recent 8 apps without having to scroll at all!! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?? (WERE THEY THINKING?!?!)

3) The text app, and for that matter Handcent and GoSMS DO NOT show the count for the unread messages, neither on the icon, nor on the notification bar, UNLESS you actually scroll down the notifications, then you can see how many unread messages you have.

4) Gmail unread count used to be awesome with the original Evo. Not only did it show how many unread messages you had but also, if you marked a message as unread (even a very old message), whether you did it from the phone or even from the computer, you would get a notification as if you just got a new message! Where's that?!?!

5) Sync seems to be having its own issues as well. On the regular email app, if I set it up to sync email every 5 minutes, it takes rather about 10-15 mins for the emails to come in. Original Evo was prompt at that...

6) on the regular email app in order to be able to go to the next or previous email, one has to first click on menu and only then do you have the "next" or "previous" option, unlike on the original Evo.

7) When already on max volume and want to make sure you still are with the volume rocker, you would hear a sound with the old Evo, now you got nothing are have to actually LOOK at the screen to make sure you got it to the max.

8) No option to play YouTube videos out of the YouTube app when clicking on a YouTube video on the browser.
That was a given with the original Evo. Annoying as hell on the LTE.

9) You MUST use both hands when holding the phone vertically if you want to have access to the whole screen (if you're laying down or sitting back on a sofa, for example), otherwise you will be unwillingly hitting the volume rocker or needing a chiropractor for your thumb. An issue which could be avoided with a gel cover, but could have been foreseen by HTC when producing such a smooth non-grippy back to the phone.

10) Gmail and Tasks are incompatible?! I mean, what's the point??

11) No integrated flashlight app?

This isn't a cellphone war between the 4G and the LTE, obviously the LTE has lots of stuff over the original Evo. I'm not here to bash the LTE, on the contrary I would love to find solutions to all (or most) of those issues.
For the time being if I have to sum it up:
I love the speed and I LOVE the battery life but, in terms of practicality, I would stick with the original Evo.

Gimme your thoughts!

I read your thoughts and I see a list of things that affect you, I understand how you feel and hopefully someone here can help you with all or at least most. My contribution is to let you know the flashlight app is in the htc hub.

is this HTC issue or Google ? Looks like a Google's new GMail update issue..

have you guys seen "quick controls" option? go to the stock browser app then settings -->labs and check it. go browser slide your thumb left or right on the edge of the screen and gives you bookmarks, tabs, settings etc.i like this options gives more screen to see the web page

1) This does seem to be the developed functionlity for the Gmail app. One solution is to add your Gmail account to the Mail app. This one allows you to select and copy/past the traditional way.

2) I totaly agree with you on this one. HTC really messed up multitasking in Sense 4.0. They did what they did to prevent Sense from constantly having to reload itself because it's such a memory hog. Now apps running in the backgroud get closed out to prevent Sense from running out of memory. This will be something HTC has to resolve is an update or you can resolve by rooting and ROMing your phone. I know the development folks at XDA are working on a solution to this issue.

3) My icon on the desktop for Messages show the unread count but it does go away one you go into the app and exit back out, regardless if you have viewed all the unread txts or not.

4) Not sure on this one. Gmail is not my primary email account so I use it very little. Maybe the solution for #1 above will fix this as well?

5) Not sure about the sync issues. I always set mine to manually check. I don't like to be bothered at work by incoming emails unless I specifically want to check it.

6) This, again, is the new design. No fix that I know of for this aside from using a 3rd party email app that does what you want it to do.

7) That is weird! You can go down one click and back up one click and hear the sounds though, so this will at least keep you from having to check the screen.

8) There is a fix out there for this. There is an apk file that needs to be deleted to restore the old functionality. I don't recall the specifics but you can search the forums. I will try to find the thread and link it here when I do.

9) You kinda already state the fix for this. Buy a grippy cover or case. I have a hard time holding mine as well. It's very slick and most cases I have seen are also slick! So not all cases will address this problem.

10) Can't comment on this, I don't use Gmail or Tasks enough.

11) There are threads on this in this forum as well. You can go into the HTC Hub app and find it in one of the sections in there. I pulled it down a while back and have it installed. I'll post the exact instrunction once I have a wroking network connection (HTC Hub wont launch without it and I get nada at work!).

Tested out the Bluetooth headset and camera trick with it this past weekend. worked pretty well, just need another way to angle it up higher, kickstand doesn't quite aim it straight.

You can use some Bluetooths as a remote to take pictures

Don't know if this is new or maybe it's been under the effects this whole time. But if you use the stock photo gallery and hit effects on a picture, select an effect from the list. Instead of hitting apply, hit edit at the top right of the screen. This will bring more options for that effect, bringing further tweaks to your photos.

I am not sure if this is anything new, but I couldn't find a way to print from my OG Evo(at least not with my printer). Today while messing with a web page I saw the option to print, gave it a shot and it searched and connected to my wireless printer. I think that's the greatest thing in world, I can't count the number of times I used to wish I could easily print from my phone.

This is a seldom mentioned feature in Sense that has a couple of advantages over Printer Share or the custom HP app for their Wifi printers... HP's app pretty much only handles PDFs, documents, and photos, can't print web sites but you can forward any email to a special address you register in order to print emails and attachments.

Printer Share tho pricey lets you print from most sites, but it doesn't let you print from email apps and some sites (anything that requires a login) are a royal pain to print from.

HTC's print feature has the advantage that it's well integrated with the stock browser & email client and it's much more seamless than Printer Share in some cases since it doesn't re render pages before printing. Compatibility is hit or miss tho, my three year old HP worked fine out of the box with my EVO 3D but the new HP I got last year never worked and crashed HTC's print driver whenever I tried it.

In the end, I tend to use all three things... HP's app, Printer Share, and HTC's printing feature. Tried Google Cloud print but it was the most simplistic/limited. My household prints a lot from their mobile devices tho, specially the tablets. That feature on HP printers that allows you to forward emails for printing probably gets the most use.

I do a lot of PC repair jobs on the side and used to hate HP's Wifi printers, they could be a total nightmare to install if anything went wrong and the software was bloated regardless... They've improved a ton lately tho.

Three finger gestures: Swipe 3 fingers to the right on just about any screen and by default it will pull up "Media Link HD setup". Swipe to the top and it does the same thing. Left and Down are defaulted to nothing. Under Settings > Display & gestures there is an option to turn on or off HTC gestures (enable 3-finger output gestures and ignore gestures with more fingers). Haven't figured out how to customize 3 finger gestures to other options but hopefully there's a way you can personalize it. I'd love to be able to toggle wifi or bluetooth that way.

Like someone else suggested, it is probably the screen protector that's preventing the action from happening. If it is, then you may be able to uncover the sensor and recover functionality.

I have this problem without a screen protector or case :(
