Post your bugs/quirks/annoyances with the tablet

I'm curious if folks are still experiencing WiFi or other bigger issues (post Lollipop and other OTAs); I'm leaning towards the Shield vs. Nexus 9 right now; each have their respective imperfections but as much as the N9 light-bleed is of concern to me, WiFi is as well.

I got the 32GB LTE Shield for my birthday. I haven't had a great deal of time to poke at it, so I'm sorry guys, I'm just going to ask in here:

If the device is unlocked, what's the deal with the AT&T app? This IS a significant annoyance for me. I've no interest in AT&T as a carrier, and the gift-giver went with the Shield on Amazon's description as unlocked.

My guess is it's unlocked to be used with other carriers or none at all, but not considered a Google Play edition and therefore still has some carrier branding. Just my 2-cents worth on that one.

I've had it for a week and the browser performance (Chrome or Firefox) is terrible. Sites are slow to load, scrolling can slow to an unresponsive mess, and opening keyboard or exiting either browser when it's doing this results in huge lag before registering the input.

I updated to lollipop out of the box before doing anything other than connecting to wifi.

The rest of the tablet (and apps) seems to function properly but I am not at all thrilled by this web browsing issue.

Also, the touch screen strikes me as overly sensitive. It can register touches just from hovering a finger over the screen.

Yes this bugs me too. I went from an N7 that would skip all over during a mulitouch action, then not respond at all if you weren't holding it with the other hand.

Now I get the Shield Tablet and it responds without even touching it! That leads to double clicks all the time.

Factory reset resolved the screen sensitivity issue for me. The browser lag was initially improved but the jury is still out on a final verdict.

Can anyone help me.

I upgrade my nvidia Shield tablet to android 5.0 lollipop yesterday. It looks awesome but when I went onto the play store it pops up an error message saying "background data disabled"

I found on the learn more link that if you go into data usage and then to settings you can turn it on. but when i follow to the data usage options i have 2 options monitor wireless route data and mobile data. no background data setting. After not finding the setting where it was supposed to be and went through every logical settings to try and find it, when that failed i went through all settings on the device to find nothing about background data.

The update was new yesterday and I've not turned it on to check for any bug fix updates.

My only thought from here is to restore factory defaults returning the device back to android 4.4.2 kitkat.

Factory reset will not return it to Kitkat if you've installed the Lollipop update. Lollipop will still be there. I'd go ahead and do the reset. Odds are it will help.

Correct, a factory reset will not roll back to the previous Android version. Only way to do so would be to unlock the bootloader and flash the factory images for KitKat which can be found at Nvidia download site.

I would hang in there with Lollipop. Sure it may have a few bugs but given Nvidia's reputation of updates it shouldn't be long before they address bugs with a new update.
