Strolling along the Philosopher's Path in Kyoto:











This last photo is of a pretty little boat made of leaves and flowers, courtesy of a fairly well-known guy who just hangs out on one of the small bridges. He's a warm and joyous guy who makes these boats and offers them to passersby for free -- he tells them to drop them into the stream, and if they land upright, then it's good luck (but if it lands upside down, he says those are just test runs ). Mine landed upright on the first try!

This is a statue of the Buddhist spirit Fudo Myo-o -- it's entirely covered in moss because it's customary to throw some water on it for luck.
