I think there’s a fine line between social convention and superstition, and even though some social conventions may have roots in superstition, I still like to try to observe them.

Therefore, I do not cross my chopsticks.

Oh, I agree. It can be so hard to navigate the various customs and conventions of different cultures, if you're not used to them, though. An example on the flip side would be chewing with one's mouth open, which is acceptable in many Asian cultures, but considered impolite and uncouth in the US and other Western cultures. I always find it interesting to learn about these customs whenever possible (and try them out when traveling!).

Shots from the incredible Dear San Francisco show at the Club Fugazi Theater in SF. This is the theater made famous by the long-running show Beach Blanket Babylon, which finally closed. This replacement is just as spectacular -- think a more intimate Cirque du Soleil without the garish costumes and blaring music. If you live near SF or visit, you gotta check it out!






I have enough trouble keeping ONE hula hoop going, much less NINE. Oh, and she can also probably bench-press me.
