I am fairly new to Android and a real chicken to making modifications to my phone. However, I have enjoyed playing with the look of my phone. For those of you using word icons, where did you get them from. I saw manups simple word icons on xda developers' site, but it said it was for the evo (?). I saw minimalistic text listed in another posting, is that an app in the market? I really want to hold off on rooting until I get a better feel for the phone. Thanks for any help out there for the new kid on the block.

Get launcher pro from the store it is free, you just cant do everything. Then download manups simple word icons it will work just fine. Minimalistic text is also free and a great program so is Battstatt. I really just look in the market and try stuff then buy it if I love it like launcher pro. simiclock is also cool hope this helps.

Brander...just play around with the phone (impossible NOT to do) and get a launcher and fuss with all the settings and you will be on your way in no time. Start off by reading this screenshot thread to get your homesceen real spiffy...these guys on here have awesome homescreens and they tell you what apps and widgets to get from the market...most of them free.
Also hang around in these forums and read through the posts...especially the Fascinate rom and hack forum. They will sound like greek at first but you'll get the hang of it.
If you want to try rooting, there is a one mouse click method that is super easy. When doing any of these hacks, FOLLOW DIRECTIONS EXACTLY.

The free version of this live wallpaper displays the clock and date without the battery level and access point. There are several backgrounds to choose from, or you can create your own.
The Palmary weather widget, which is part of Palmary weather, is what I see when I swipe to the right.
The In Case of Emergency widget is what I see when I swipe to the left. Arguably it should be on the main homescreen, but I like a clean main screen.

LauncherPro Icons in the market for $1.99. App wise, a little expensive for the 2 icons I'm using, but on the other hand it's only $1.99

Good to see a neighbor on the forum. I'm new to the Fascinate and Android in general, still learning how to get the best from this awesome phone.

Edit: I just checked your link. It's not pointing to a valid address. Your best bet is to upload images to a service like Photobucket, and then use the Image code they provide you to paste into the forum.
