I charge it up all the way and when using it it drops 40% in 2 minutes and stays on whatever it dropped to for about 1 hour or 2 but if I restart the device it shows the correct percentage and drops down again in a few minutes

Does the battery still last as long as it should, or does it actually continue draining to zero much more quickly than usual? Trying to figure out if it's a problem with the battery itself or with the system's reading of the battery level.

It lasts a very good amount of time about 7 hours I will post the percentages for you to see

I am pretty sure it is the system reading the battery level that it is off but I have no idea how to reset it or reconfigure it

I'm not so sure...you have some wakelock issues. Have you tried a reboot? Might be a stuck app.

From an AOSP M8

Yes that's when it jumps back up to a higher percent every time I restart it is shows the true percentage and it isnt any rogue apps because there are no apps on the tablet at all I factory data reset it and didn't download a single one

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode? This could tell if you if the glitch is due to some 3rd party app.

I have booted into safe mode since this morning and the problem is still evident

You might see this problem again with your replacement in the future. It's common problem causing by bad battery connector.

I had erratic battery issues with my tab S I bought a replacement battery for $34 changed it out and haven't had not one issue since. Before this I even sent it into Samsung they changed the utg cable ran the tablet for 15 minutes it clearly still had the problem yet they said it passes qt. Samsung knows the pro and tab S were sold with bad batteries but yet when you call them they'll act like it's the first time their hearing about it..

sent from my LG G4 vs986

It's true that bad battery may cause erratic performance but most of the time it's not from the battery.
I always look at battery connector first to see if it's the source of problem before consider to replace the battery.
Trust me, factory reset, reload firmware will not fix a flaw in hardware.
