power on but black screen

I have a Motorola Droid Pro. I dropped my phone but not hard a couple of weeks ago. The screen started to go blank. It would just happen randomly at first and I could pop the battery out and restart the phone with no problem. But today, it has just stayed blank. I have popped the battery out countless times and restarted it but the screen still stays blank. The green light flashes indicating new alerts in the message bar. I can hear the phone ringing with incoming calls, I can tell the key pad is working because it will vibrate/chime when I touch it but I can not see anything on the screen. I suspect it has something to do with the proximity sensor but have no idea how to fix it since I can not turn the phone on to a visible screen to restore settings. Any idea how to tackle this? I had to switch my cell service back over to my old backup obsolete dumb phone until this is fixed.
