Power Saving mode Lock Screen Notification Marshmallow

Hello,

So ever since I purchased my galaxy s6 (almost a year ago), I became used to turning on power saving mode. The phone's poor battery life is no secret and this was the only way I could get a decent usage time. Now with Marshmallow, battery life is much better due to Doze but I still want to use power saving mode to squeeze out a bit more juice. I don't mind the power saving mode notification that used to appear with lollipop. It was there but it wouldn't appear on my lock screen, and wouldn't affect the general appearance of the screen. Now power saving mode notifications appear where they did with lollipop but also appear on the lock screen and whats even more annoying is that a notification icon appears at the top of my phone and greys out the time and connectivity symbols bar. This persists even throughout the usage of applications of which do not take over this bar such as Internet or Android Central. Like I said, I don't mind the old notification on the home screen, I just have to know if there is a way to remove the new annoying changes on the lock screen and bar.

Hi,
I just got the update too, and i'm really bothered by the gray notification tray and the power saving icon. I can't manage to get rid of it except turning the power saving off
However, i did manage to hide the notification from lock screen
If you pull the notification tab down and press longer on the 'Power saving mode enabled' another window openes that says 'System UI'. There you can disable notifications on lock screen.
I tried and it worked for me. All the other notifications (phone calls, messages etc) still appear on the lock screen.

Your method works, however I want to refrain from hiding all notifications originating from system ui. My reason is that this application or bundle handles a lot more than just power saving. I want to be able to still tell if something suddenly goes wrong with my phone.

Same issue with my new Galaxy s7. Hopefully this is addressed soon.

You don't hide all notifications from ui..it still appears on your notification tray once you unlock the device. It just doesn't show on the lock screen

Bump! The only way to get rid of it so far is installing the most used custom rom for s6, which I won't link here.

I found a way to get rid of system ui on my S7. I went to settings> notifications> advanced> more> show system apps. I could then find, and hide, system ui. It isn't just power notifications, but it works. ☺

Press and hold the notification, touch the exclamation point thing that appears, then click hide notification on lockscreen.
This worked on my marshmallow s5 and have reason to believe it works for s6 too

Guys i installed the theme called material dark and it fixed my problem i don't get the ugly grey bar anymore it's tranceparent now

Does anyone know/can list all the notifications the system ui sends out. After clicking the blue question mark next to system UI, I hit "force stop" and it permanently turns off the grey power saving notification when using during normal use (until I either restart the phone or turn off then on again the power saver option).

I want to know what other notifications I'll be missing by doing this. Or, when a "new" notification comes thru will the app just start up again...force stop doesn't turn it off permanently does it? just right at that moment until a new ping comes thru?

I have the S5, not sure if this will work on the S6, but under settings, touch Power Saving, at the top where it shows Power Saving, touch that and you can select immediately or different percentage levels WHEN to start power saving. At whatever level you select is when they grey bar will show and power saving begins.

Hi, I just got a Galaxy A3 (2016) with Marshmallow, upgrading from an S4-mini with KitKat. Because smaller form-factor phones have smaller batteries, I immediately turned on Power Saving and got the dreaded grey status bar. I eventually settled on a solution that works very well for me, and may work for others as well if one is inclined to customize their homescreen.

I used Hola Launcher on the S4-mini/KitKat, but with the A3 I've found that Buzz Launcher suits my needs (as themed Marshmallow icons are pretty enough to not require replacing imho). Buzz Launcher allows you to hide the status bar altogether, and I've set up Power saving to kick in when the phone reaches 50% battery.

I've attached screenshots of my homescreen and the notification bar pulled down (Buzz also lets you assign a swipedown to reveal the 'full' notification bar). The only remnant of where the status bar used to be is a little battery widget in the top right, and in the notifcation pulldown screen you can see that Power Saving is on (of course, at 72% battery the grey bar hasn't kicked in yet). Hopefully this helps some of you get your phones back to being more like yours instead of Samsung's.



Addendum: oops, I forgot to mention that notification icons still appear top left as they come in, the hidden status bar allows for this

I had sent umpteen number of feedback to Samsung to make the Notification Bar transparent, instead of the annoying, ugly grey colour which impairs visibility of white notifications on grey background in Note 4 Android v6.0.1. But Samsung people are arrogant and adamant that they will never rectify this annoying issue. I have decided to keep myself away from Samsung phones hereafter because their software support and the way they respond to genuine feedback is extremely poor. Don't expect to get any software support from Samsung. Even if their stock interface is proved to be ugly, they will remain adamant that they will never change it. Samsung have scant regard for genuine customer feedback. Neither in the case of software nor in the case of hardware. Never buy Samsung phones.
