Hello peeps.

Just wondering if anyone is having problems with being able to successfully PPTP vpn from our phone to a DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/07/10) voip flashed router. I believe ive setup the VPN server portion correctly but i still can not get the phone to connect to my vpn server.

In DDWRT I have the VPN server set as the public IP
Have setup a list of IP's on the local lan to be assigned to the vpn client
turned OFF encryption just to try and make trying to connect easier.(though obviously id like it on)
Setup the user and password as directed. Username(space)*(space)password(space)*

I have one problem or the other.

Either my phone says "Unable to connect to the network." or "Server hung up"

Has anyone been able to configure thier DDWRT router to accept PPTP vpn connections successfully?

This may seem not helpful, but if your router can use Tomato USB firmware, have you tried it? It tried VPN a while back using that firmware, and it worked fine with android. Welcome to the Tomato USB web site - TomatoUSB

From my experience ddwrt isn't the most stable firmware. There are 1000 variants and they are all in beta. With Tomato, it's built for a handful of routers and tested thoroughly.

Well it LOOKS like Tomato uses OPENVPN, which DDWRT also has as a option to use, but I believe i need a OPENVPN client on the phone in order for it to work, im trying to avoid using any 3rd party software to make a vpn connection. I mean if the phone has vpn built into it, i should be able to USE it, versus downloading some other vpn software.

Thanks for the info though.

UPDATE:

Well it appears that i can PPTP vpn from my GF's HTC G2 from Tmobile just fine, although i cant seem to connect locally to anything, but thats just some other vpn problem. I still cant seem to get a connection from my Virgin Optimus V. WTF. virgin blocking something?
